Estimation of absorbed organ doses used in computed tomography (CT) using time-intensive Monte Carlo simulations with virtual patient anatomic models is not widely reported in the literature. Using the library of computational phantoms developed by the University of Florida and the National Cancer Institute, we performed Monte Carlo simulations to calculate organ dose values for 9 CT categories representing the most common body regions and indications for imaging (reflecting low, routine, and high radiation dose examinations), stratified by patient age (in children) and effective diameter (in adults, using "diameter" as a measure of patient size). Our sample of 559,202 adult and 103,423 pediatric CT examinations was prospectively assembled between 2015-2020 from 156 imaging facilities from 27 healthcare organizations in 20 U.

Combination approaches are needed to strengthen and extend the clinical response to KRAS inhibitors (KRASi). Here, we assessed the antitumor responses of KRAS mutant lung and colorectal cancer models to combination treatment with a SOS1 inhibitor (SOS1i), BI-3406, plus the KRAS inhibitor, adagrasib. We found that responses to BI-3406 plus adagrasib were stronger than to adagrasib alone, comparable to adagrasib with SHP2 (SHP2i) or EGFR inhibitors and correlated with stronger suppression of RAS-MAPK signaling.

Herein we describe the synthesis of Cu sensor, 2,2'-((1E,1'E)-((4-chloro-1,2-phenylene)bis(azaneylylidene))bis(methane-ylylidene))bis(4-bromophenol) (CPMB) and characterization using various spectral and analytical techniques. CPMB exhibited high selectivity towards Cu ions via fluorescence quenching mechanism, which combined the character of high selectivity towards Cu assay even in the presence of other common metal ions such as Cu, Al, Co, Ni, Mn, Zn Pb Cd, Fe, Hg, Mg and Fe (30 μM) ethanol-water (1:9 v/v) system. Upon the addition of the solution of Cu ions to CPMB, the complexation of Cu with CPMB leads to the immediate formation of light green color, indicating that CPMB can act as simple colorimetric sensor, particularly for Cu in the presence of most interfering metal ions in ethanol-water medium.

Although ibrutinib improves the overall survival of patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), some patients still develop resistance, most commonly through point mutations affecting cysteine residue 481 (C481) in Bruton's tyrosine kinase (BTKC481S and BTKC481R). To enhance our understanding of the biological impact of these mutations, we established cell lines that overexpress wild-type or mutant BTK in in vitro and in vivo models that mimic ibrutinib-sensitive and -resistant CLL.
