Some of conventional wastewater disinfectants can have a harmful influence on the environment as well as human health. The aim of this investigation was synthesis and characterizes ecofriendly pectin/hydroxyethyl cellulose (HEC)/clay and pectin/HEC/clay incorporated with titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiONPs) and use the prepared bionanocomposite as microbial disinfectants for real wastewater. Pectin/HEC/clay and pectin/HEC/clay/TiO bionanocomposite were characterized by various methods including X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA).

Alzheimer's disease (AD) levels have increased globally, which is considered the sixth reason for deaths. So, a requirement exists for economic and quantitative methods to follow up the gradual progression of AD. The current study presents a simulation for a non-irradiated, safe, wearable, and noninvasive mobile approach for detecting the progression of Alzheimer's brain atrophy using the optical diffusion technique and for investigating the difference between the normal and the diseased brain.

Safer spaces in these youth programs are likely critical in fostering positive health outcomes, but current research on the links between safer spaces and health is limited. In this exploratory study, we examined links between program safety in youth development programs and minoritized status, and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and psychosomatic health complaints.

This study aims to assess social and self-stigma resulting from COVID-19 infection and other associated factors in Egypt during the pandemic.
Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 533 adult Egyptians via an online questionnaire.
This article investigates the effect of varying breast tumor size on the fluence rate distribution within a breast model during the diffuse optical imaging procedure. Early detection of breast cancer is of significant importance owing to its wide spread among women worldwide. Mastectomy surgery became very common due to the late detection of breast cancers by the conventional diagnostic methods such as X-ray mammography and magnetic resonance imaging.

It has the ability to introduce mutations, DNA strand breakage, and cell death. Being a radiosensitive organ, exposure of the thyroid gland to IR can lead to significant changes in its function.

The present study provides a noninvasive, safe approach for brain tumor detection by numerically analyzing the optical fluence rate at the scalp. The proposed numerical investigation demonstrates the application of different laser wavelengths for identifying different types and volumes of brain tumors (glioma "grade II astrocytoma" and meningioma). The proposed method analyzes the spatial fluence rate distribution over the surface of the head after probing it with different infrared laser wavelengths (1000 and 1100 nm) to distinguish between normal and brain tumors.

However, little is known about the role of chloride channels in the regulation of thyroid functions by estrogen. In this study, the effects of estrogen on chloride channel activities in human thyroid Nthy-ori3-1 cells were therefore investigated using the whole cell patch-clamp technique.

We aimed to identify all studies investigating the risk factors for RSV-ALRTI poor outcome or death in young children.
Methods: We carried out a systematic literature review across 7 databases with data from studies published from January 1995 to December 2019.
The molecular Egyptology field started in the mid-eighties with the first publication on the ancient DNA (aDNA) analysis of an Egyptian mummy. Egypt has been a major interest for historians, archeologists, laymen as well as scientists. The aDNA research on Egyptian biological remains has been fueled by their abundance and relatively well-preserved states through artificial mummification and by the advanced analytical techniques.

Extracellular acidification, playing a promoting role in the process of acute pancreatitis, has been reported to activate Cl channels in several types of cells. However, whether extracellular acidification aggravates acute pancreatitis via activating Cl channels remains unclear. Here, we investigated the effects of extracellular acidification on Cl channels in rat pancreatic acinar AR42J cells using whole-cell patch-clamp recordings.

This retrospective study included 42 patients with systemic sclerosis who attended Rheumatology Clinics at Hamad General Hospital in Doha, Qatar, between January 2000 and December 2014. All patients fulfilled the 1980 American College of Rheumatology (ACR) classification criteria for systemic sclerosis.

Through the exploration of the thienopyrimidine scaffold, we have identified a ligand-efficient methylation that leads to remarkable selectivity for PI3Kδ over the closely related isoforms. Interrogation through the Free-Wilson analysis highlights the innate selectivity the thienopyrimidine scaffold has for PI3Kδ and provides a predictive model for the activity against the PI3K isoforms.

The drawbacks of conventional inactivated Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) vaccine, such as escaping of the virus during manufacture processes prompted researchers to explore novel types of vaccine to overcome these disadvantages. Listeria ivanovii (LI) is an intracellular microorganism that possesses immune-stimulatory properties, making it appropriate for use as a live bacterial vaccine vector. The Foot and mouth disease virus (FMDV) VP1 protein is the most immunogenic part of FMDV capsid, it has most of the antigenic sites for viral neutralization.

This work attempted to coat LI-based vaccine candidates (LI-Rv0129c) with chitooligosaccharides (COSs) as an adjuvant to enhance the cellular immune responses induced. COS-bacteria composite was achieved by mixing the bacteria suspension with equal volume of COS solution, and this process accompanied with the increase of bacteria superficial zeta potential and formation of special superficial configurations.
