Clinical experience in organ transplant from the Shiraz Transplant Center: 2011.

Objectives: The Shiraz Organ Transplant Center, the largest transplant center in Iran, has expanded its program of organ transplant during recent years. This article seeks to summarize organ transplantation over the last 2 decades and evaluate its status as of 2011.

Materials And Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the clinical records of all organ transplants performed in our center in 2011.

Subclinical atherosclerosis and related risk factors in renal transplant recipients.

Long-term survival after successful renal transplantation is shortened by cardiovascular disease. Cardiovascular disease is a main cause of morbidity and death among children and young adults after renal transplantation. The aim of our study was to measure the carotid intima media thickness (cIMT) and determine its relationship to the risk factors for early arteriopathy in renal transplant recipients.

Accuracy of sonography in detection of renal injuries caused by blunt abdominal trauma: a prospective study.

Background: This prospective study was conducted to evaluate the accuracy of sonography in detection of renal injuries caused by blunt abdominal trauma.

Methods: One hundred sixty-four patients (131 M, 33 F) with a history of recent blunt abdominal trauma who were stable enough to undergo both sonography and CT scan were included in this study. All of the cases had accepted indications for renal imaging.
