- Vesicoureteral reflux (VUR) is linked to urinary tract infections (UTIs) in children, and this study evaluates how effective kidney ultrasounds (US) are in predicting VUR and its severity.
- The study involved children under 18 who had experienced UTIs and underwent kidney US and further imaging methods from 2003 to 2016, assessing various kidney conditions to determine their relationship with VUR.
- Findings revealed that certain kidney conditions were more common in patients with VUR, and while kidney US showed some utility in predicting VUR, it alone misses a significant number of cases, suggesting it should not be the sole diagnostic tool.
