Methicillin-resistant (MRSA) infections are increasingly causing morbidity and mortality; thus, drugs with multifunctional efficacy against MRSA are needed. We extracted a novel compound from the halophilic using an ethyl acetate (HPAEtOAcE). followed by purification and structure elucidation through HPLC, LCMS, and H and C NMR, revealing the novel 5-(1-indol-3-yl)-4-pentyl-1,3-oxazole-2-carboxylic acid (Compound ).

Article Synopsis
  • Lichens are complex organisms formed from a symbiotic relationship between fungi and either algae or cyanobacteria, and the study examines samples from various habitats in Tamil Nadu, India.
  • Researchers used advanced sequencing techniques to analyze the bacterial diversity within specific lichen species, revealing distinct microbiome profiles influenced by their environment.
  • Findings show that geographic location, growth substrate, and climate all significantly impact the bacterial communities associated with lichens, highlighting the evolutionary connections between coastal and terrestrial lichen samples.
