Kidney transplant has become the preferred renal replacement therapy for children with end-stage renal disease. The results of kidney transplant have improved enormously due to advances in organ procurement, organ preservation, surgical techniques, and immunosuppressive regimens. Renal transplant is a more cost-effective method versus hemodialysis and provides better quality of life.

The interaction of biomacromolecules with each other or with the ligands is essential for biological activity. In this context, the molecular recognition of bovine serum albumin (BSA) with 4-(Benzo[1,3]dioxol-5-yloxymethyl)-7-hydroxy-chromen-2-one (4BHC) is explored using multispectroscopic and computational techniques. UV-Vis spectroscopy helped in predicting the conformational variations in BSA.

Background: Nephrotic syndrome (NS) is a commonly encountered chronic kidney disease in pediatric populations, with South Asian children being at high risk and requiring long-term pharmacological management. Thus, identifying medication discrepancies and evaluating the appropriateness of therapy and its economic burden are vital for inpatient management. The aim of the study was to assess medication reconciliation, medication appropriateness, and cost analysis in NS cases.

Background: Primary membranous nephropathy is a rare presentation in children. Patients unresponsive to steroids and experiencing frequent relapse are considered steroid-resistant. They often require complex treatment regimens consisting of immunosuppressants like cyclophosphamide, tacrolimus, and cyclosporin A.

Background: Childhood diarrhea remains a major disease burden, particularly in developing countries, and is a leading cause of death in children aged < 5 years, worldwide. Treatment of acute diarrhea now includes probiotics to potentially reduce the duration and severity of the illness. This phase 3, randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind study assessed the efficacy and safety of four strains (O/C, N/R, SIN, T) of Bacillus clausii probiotic (Enterogermina®) plus oral rehydration therapy (ORT) and zinc, versus placebo plus ORT and zinc, in infants and children in India with acute moderate diarrhea.

Motion sickness (MS) occurs due to contradicting vestibular and visual inputs to the brain causing nausea and vomiting. Antidopaminergic drugs being effective in reducing MS create a path for effective therapy against MS by regulating dopamine levels. We aimed to evaluate the role of the striatum and brainstem dopamine and dopamine D2 receptor (DRD2) in MS and the efficacy of menthol (MNT) to modulate dopamine and DRD2 in vitro and in vivo for possible amelioration of MS.

The present study was aimed to investigate the effect of standardised hydroalcoholic extract of (BME) against isoproterenol (ISO) induced cardiac stress. Isoproterenol (85 mg/kg body weight) was administered intraperitoneally to induce cardiac stress in rats. (BME75 and 150 mg/kg) was orally administered for 21 days followed by ISO on 22nd and 23rd experimental days.

Introduction: Open fractures are treated as surgical emergency and early administration of intravenous antibiotic coupled with early irrigation and debridement decreases the infection rate dramatically. Limb Reconstruction System (LRS) is a unilateral rail system which consists of Shanz pins, rail rods and sliding clamps. It is specifically designed to enable the surgeon to perform simple and effective surgery as it offers rigid fixation of fracture fragments, allowing early weight bearing and reduces economic burden.

Invasive aspergillus and mucormycosis infection are not uncommon in immunocompromised individuals. Endobronchial fungal infections have been reported in the literature, especially in patient's with diabetes complicated by diabetic ketoacidosis, but end bronchial coinfection with aspergillus and mucormycosis without pulmonary involvement has not been described in the literature. We report the case of a woman with diabetes who presented with gastrointestinal symptoms, ketoacidosis and respiratory distress, with an apparently normal chest X-ray.

Objective: To study the problems faced during the surgery and follow-up of modified complete primary repair of exstrophy (CPRE) technique. Initial experience with CPRE and its short- and long-term outcomes with respect to continence status and psychosocial impact are reported.

Materials And Methods: A retrospective review of the hospital case records from March 2008 to September 2012 was performed.

Invasive pulmonary coinfection with Mucor and Aspergillus is rare. Bilateral vocal cord paralysis resulting from coinfection with these two fungi to our knowledge has not been reported in the literature. We report a young woman with diabetes who presented with symptoms of community acquired pneumonia in association with hoarseness of voice.

Pulmonary nocardiosis is a serious, most often considered an opportunistic infection affecting the respiratory tract. Even though it is more common in immunocompromised hosts, it is not infrequently seen in immunocompetent patients as well. The aerosol route is the main portal of entry in to the body.

Infection from Aspergillus results in a wide range of diseases from simple Aspergillus pneumonia to fatal invasive Aspergillosis. Though the fungus is known to predominantly affect the immunocompromised host, it has also been known to cause acute pneumonia in immunocompetent hosts which is invariably fatal. It presents as an acute pneumonia with bilateral chest infiltrates on radiograph.
