We offer an alternative real-space description, based purely on activated processes, for the understanding of relaxation dynamics in hierarchical landscapes. To this end, we use the cluster model, a coarse-grained lattice model of a jammed system, to analyze rejuvenation and memory effects during aging after a hard quench. In this model, neighboring particles on a lattice aggregate through local interactions into clusters that fragment with a probability based on their size.

This can be viewed as detecting "local" structures among the variables. In the context of a simple toy model of two-dimensional natural and synthetic images, we show that pairwise correlations between the variables-even when severely undersampled-provide enough information to recover local relations, including the dimensionality of the data, and to reconstruct arrangement of pixels in fully scrambled images.

Defining an isomorph as a line of constant excess entropy in the thermodynamic phase diagram, the consequent approximate isomorph invariance of structure and dynamics in appropriate units is well documented. However, although all measures of the structure are predicted to be isomorph invariant, with few exceptions only the radial distribution function (RDF) has been investigated.
