Applications of photoluminescence (PL) from semiconductor quantum dots (QDs) have faced the dichotomy of excitonic emission being susceptible to self-absorption and shallow defects reducing quantum yield (QY) catastrophically, and doped emissions sacrificing the tunability of the emission wavelength a quantum size effect, making it extremely challenging, if not impossible, to optimize all desirable properties simultaneously. Here we report a strategy that simultaneously optimizes all desirable PL properties in CdS QDs by leveraging interface engineering through the growth of two crystallographic phases, namely wurtzite and zinc blende phases, within individual QDs. These engineered interfaces result in sub-bandgap emissions ultrafast energy transfer (∼780 fs) from band-edge states to interface states protected from surface defects, enhancing stability and prolonging the PL lifetime.

Aim: The current study, evaluates the photoneutron dose equivalent (PNDE) produced between the 10 MV flattened and unflattened beams as a function of field sizes in the Elekta Versa HD™ linac.
Materials And Methods: The PNDE produced from Versa linac was recorded along the patient plane using the bubble detector personal neutron dosimeter and from the measured PNDE values, the theoretical PNDE values were simulated for various field sizes using nonlinear least-squares curve-fitting as a function of a polynomial.
The organic spacer molecule is known to regulate the optoelectronic properties of two-dimensional (2D) perovskites. We show that the spacer layer thickness determines the nature of optical transitions, direct or indirect, by controlling the structural properties of the inorganic layer. The spin-orbit interactions lead to different electron spin orientations for the states associated with the conduction band minimum (CBM) and the valence band maximum (VBM).

The genomes of anaerobic ammonium-oxidizing (anammox) bacteria contain a gene cluster comprising genes of unusual fatty acid biosynthesis enzymes that were suggested to be involved in the synthesis of the unique "ladderane" lipids produced by these organisms. This cluster encodes an acyl carrier protein (denoted as "amxACP") and a variant of FabZ, an ACP-3-hydroxyacyl dehydratase. In this study, we characterize this enzyme, which we call anammox-specific FabZ ("amxFabZ"), to investigate the unresolved biosynthetic pathway of ladderane lipids.

Methods: This retrospective chart review included consecutive TKA procedures performed over a 5-year period between January 2014 and January 2019 at 2 freestanding ASCs. The patient selection algorithm was developed on the basis of patient comorbidities to minimize the potential for adverse events.
