Patients undergoing immune effector cell therapy (IECT) are at high risk for infections. We assessed seropositivity against pneumococcus, tetanus, and diphtheria in patients before and after IECT and the patients' response to vaccination. We enrolled patients who underwent IECT from January 2020 to March 2022.

Very few studies have reported the diversity of endophytic bacterial communities of Vanilla planifolia and their potential roles in promoting plant growth or contributing to aromatic quality.
Results: In this study, the composition and diversity of the Vanilla rhizosphere bacterial community were explored by analyzing rhizosphere soil and root tissue samples as well as green pods of three accessions of Vanilla planifolia grown on different types of substrates (compost and leaf litter).
Hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) uses cytotoxic chemotherapy and/or radiation followed by intravenous infusion of stem cells to cure malignancies, bone marrow failure and inborn errors of immunity, hemoglobin and metabolism. Lung injury is a known complication of the process, due in part to disruption in the pulmonary microenvironment by insults such as infection, alloreactive inflammation and cellular toxicity. How microorganisms, immunity and the respiratory epithelium interact to contribute to lung injury is uncertain, limiting the development of prevention and treatment strategies.

Paediatric specific European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (pEBMT) diagnostic criteria have demonstrated benefit in single center studies compared to historic criteria. Yet, the extent to which they have been universally implemented remains unclear.

With recent EU marketing authorisation, tabelecleucel is the first off-the-shelf, allogeneic, EBV-specific T-cell immunotherapy to receive approval for treatment of relapsed or refractory EBV-positive post-transplant lymphoproliferative disease. We aimed to determine the clinical benefit of tabelecleucel in patients with relapsed or refractory EBV-positive post-transplant lymphoproliferative disease following HSCT or SOT.

Methods: Patients aged 0-39 years undergoing first ASCT for NHL at MD Anderson Cancer Center between 2000 and 2020 were analyzed.
Results: Two hundred twenty-one patients were included in the analysis, 129 (58%) were male and the median age was 32 (range 6-39) years.
Blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasm (BPDCN) is a rare hematologic malignancy that can involve the bone marrow, peripheral blood, skin, lymph nodes, and the central nervous system. Though more common in older adults, BPDCN has been reported across all age groups, including infants and children. The incidence of pediatric BPDCN is extremely low and little is known about the disease.

Combined advances in haematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) and intensive care management have improved the survival of patients with haematological malignancies admitted to the intensive care unit. In cases of refractory respiratory failure or refractory cardiac failure, these advances have led to a renewed interest in advanced life support therapies, such as extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), previously considered inappropriate for these patients due to their poor prognosis. Given the scarcity of evidence-based guidelines on the use of ECMO in patients receiving HCT and the need to provide equitable and sustainable access to ECMO, the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine, the Extracorporeal Life Support Organization, and the International ECMO Network aimed to develop an expert consensus statement on the use of ECMO in adult patients receiving HCT.

We analyzed 222 patients aged 0-39 years undergoing first ASCT for NHL between 2000 and 2020. The most common histological subtypes were DLBCL (44%), T-NHL (19%) and PMBCL (19%).

With the risk of graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), especially in the human leukocyte antigen-mismatched donors, intense immunosuppression is required leading to an increased risk of viral infection. Post-HSCT, adoptive transfer of virus-specific T-cell (VST) therapies have not been well-studied in patients with SCD.

Yet, due to unique and potentially life-threatening complications, access remains limited to higher-resource and certified centers. Reports of inequity and related disparities in care are emerging.

This investigation was a secondary analysis of a multicenter retrospective cohort of children (1month to 21 years) postallogeneic HCT with PARDS receiving invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV) from 2009 to 2014. Daily FO % (FO%) and daily oxygenation index (OI) were calculated for each patient up to the first week of IMV (day 0 = intubation).

Currently, no IL-12-based therapeutic products have been approved for clinical application because of its toxicities. On the basis of this review of clinical trials using primarily wild-type IL-12 and different delivery methods, we conclude that the safe utilization of IL-12 is highly dependent on the tumor-specific localization of IL-12 post administration.
