Thermoanalytical investigation of some sulfone-containing drugs.

The thermal behavior of some sulfone-containing drugs, namely, dapsone (DDS), dimethylsulfone (MSM), and topiramate (TOP) in drug substances, and products were investigated using different thermal techniques. These include thermogravimetry (TGA), derivative thermogravimetry (DTG), differential thermal analysis (DTA), and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The thermogravimetric data allowed the determination of the kinetic parameters: activation energy (E(a)), frequency factor (A), and reaction order (n).

Clinical features and treatment outcome of acute promyelocytic leukemia patients treated at cairo national cancer institute in egypt.

The current study reports the clinical features and treatment outcome of 67 patients with acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) treated at National Cancer Institute (NCI-Cairo), in Egypt from January 2007 to January 2011. The median age at presentation was 29 years. Bleeding was the most common presenting symptom (79%).
