Objectives: Our study aimed to evaluate the cytokine levels in pediatric chronic non-bacterial osteomyelitis (CNO) patients and compare these with other immune-mediated diseases and healthy controls.

Methods: In this prospective study, we included 42 children with CNO, 28 patients with non-systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA), 17 children with insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM), and 30 healthy age-matched controls. In each of the CNO patients and comparison groups, the levels of 14-3-3-η protein, S100A8/A9 protein, interleukin-4 (IL-4), interleukin-17 (IL-17), interleukin-18 (IL-18), interleukin-1β (IL-1β), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) were measured by ELISA assay.

The study covers the issues of organization of sanitary educative work in the Republic of Dagestan. It is established that both physicians of urban medical institutions and specialists in rural medical institutions consider this sector of their professional activities in a formal way. About 16% of physicians are not involved into sanitary educative work at all and 84% of respondents consider the formation of healthy life-style as a direct output of increase of salary of medical specialists.

The analysis is presented relating the organization of emergency medical care in the Republic of Dagestan. The analysis of official statistic data revealed that from 2005 and until the present time there is a sustained increase of resourcing to this form of service by the population both in the republic in general and in urban areas. The increase of appealability among urban population is significantly higher than in the republic.

The examination of 500 workers engaged in the production of chemicals detected chronic pyelonephritis in 81 (16%) of them. Such occupational hazards as furnace-charge dust, fly-powder, calcium petre in the air, intensify their toxic action on workers in high temperature and humidity (54-67%) at workplace and provoke pyelonephritis. An experimental model of pyelonephritis was developed in animals exposed to the above environmental hazards.
