Reusable learning objects for nurse education: development, evaluation, challenges and recommendations.

Online resources are expected within healthcare education, and a plethora of online or technology-based delivery methods are available. Reusable learning objects (RLOs) are a form of digitally supported education that can be used multiple times in various locations; they are especially favoured by nurses. Little is understood about the issues involved in their creation.

Comparing safety climate for nurses working in operating theatres, critical care and ward areas in the UK: a mixed methods study.

Objectives: The main aim of the study was to explore the potential sources of variation and understand the meaning of safety climate for nursing practice in acute hospital settings in the UK.

Design: A sequential mixed methods design included a cross-sectional survey using the Safety Climate Questionnaire (SCQ) and thematic analysis of focus group discussions. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was used to validate the factor structure of the SCQ.

FOR SOME people, meetings are simply interruptions of their working days. For others, they provide opportunities to communicate with other team members and add to the social dynamics of the workplace.

Improving team meetings to support discharge planning.

Following the establishment of a discharge working group, several concerns were raised about the management of multidisciplinary team (MDT) discharge meetings throughout the trust. A project was established to observe MDT meetings, identify good practice and produce practice guidance to improve standards and achieve consistency throughout the organisation.

Evaluation of an evidence-based nursing tool for acute hospitals.

Routine documentation of nursing care is an important part of everyday nursing practice. Evaluation of a new evidenced-based nursing assessment tool--the Gloucester patient profile--was carried out in six ward areas in an acute hospital setting. Non-participant observation and nominal group evaluations showed that the new assessment tool took longer to complete than the traditional record, but reduced the amount of paperwork.
