Methods: The operative notes of all patients that had undergone arthroscopic shoulder instability repair between January 2017 and May 2022 were retrospectively reviewed. Magnetic resonance imaging scans were then analyzed, and glenoid version was measured by a single blinded observer.

The icy moons of the outer Solar System display evidence of subsurface liquid water and, therefore, potential habitability for life. Flybys of Saturn's moon Enceladus by the Cassini spacecraft have provided measurements of material from plumes that suggest hydrothermal activity and the presence of organic matter. Jupiter's moon Europa may have similar plumes and is the target for the forthcoming Europa Clipper mission that carries a high mass resolution and high sensitivity mass spectrometer, called the MAss Spectrometer for Planetary EXploration (MASPEX), with the capability for providing detailed characterization of any organic materials encountered.

Oocyte cryopreservation in a transgender man on long-term testosterone therapy: a case report.

Objective: To report a case of ovarian stimulation for the purposes of oocyte cryopreservation in a transgender man without cessation of long-term testosterone therapy.

Design: Report of a unique case of fertility preservation through ovarian stimulation and oocyte cryopreservation in a transgender man who had been on testosterone therapy for 18 months before treatment. The patient elected to continue testosterone therapy throughout ovarian stimulation and oocyte retrieval.

The relative oral bioavailability and dermal absorption of chemical substances from environmental media are key factors that are needed to accurately estimate site-specific risks and manage human exposures. This study evaluated the relative oral bioavailability and dermal absorption of several polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) found in soils collected from two formerly used Department of Defense sites impacted by weathered fragments of clay shooting targets. In 2014, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) proposed a Dermal Slope Factor (DSF) for benzo[a]pyrene (BaP) of 0.006 (μg/day) (USEPA 2014a). It would make cancer risk estimates associated with soil contact 100 times greater than those from soil ingestion and would predict that a large fraction of skin Basal Cell Carcinomas (BCCs) and Squamous Cell Carcinomas (SCCs) worldwide are caused by low level dermal exposures to PAHs, such as BaP.

A Preliminary Characterisation of Innovative Semi-Flexible Composite Pavement Comprising Geopolymer Grout and Reclaimed Asphalt Planings.

This article considers semi-flexible composite (SFC) pavement materials made with reclaimed asphalt planings (RAP) and geopolymer cement-based grouts. Geopolymer grouts were developed and used to fill the internal void structure of coarse RAP skeletons with varying levels of porosity. The geopolymer grouts were formulated at ambient temperature using industrial by-products to offer economic and environmental savings relative to conventional Portland cement-based grouting systems.

Risk assessment implications of site-specific oral relative bioavailability factors and dermal absorption fractions for polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in surface soils impacted by clay skeet target fragments.

Risk assessment conclusions for a site may differ when using site-specific versus default values for the relative bioavailability factor (RBAF) and dermal absorption fraction (ABS.d), because these inputs affect both surface soil screening levels and risk/hazard estimates. There is an increasing interest in hierarchical design and additive manufacturing (AM) of cement-based materials. However, the brittle behavior of these materials and the presence of interfaces from the AM process currently present a major challenge. Contrary to the commonly adopted approach in AM of cement-based materials to eliminate the interfaces in 3D-printed hardened cement paste (hcp) elements, this work focuses on harnessing the heterogeneous interfaces by employing novel architectures (based on bioinspired Bouligand structures).

Hydrothermal activity is suspected to occur deep inside the porous core, powered by tidal dissipation .

Cassini finds molecular hydrogen in the Enceladus plume: Evidence for hydrothermal processes.

Trade-offs between predator avoidance and electric shock avoidance in hermit crabs demonstrate a non-reflexive response to noxious stimuli consistent with prediction of pain.

Arthropods have long been thought to respond to noxious stimuli by reflex reaction. One way of testing if this is true is to provide the animal with a way to avoid the stimulus but to vary the potential cost of avoidance. If avoidance varies with potential cost then a decision making process is evident and the behaviour is not a mere reflex.

Retroperitoneal hemorrhage after ureteroscopy without laser lithotripsy: an extreme example of an underreported event?

Retroperitoneal hemorrhage and an associated hematoma are uncommon but potentially serious complications following ureteroscopy with laser lithotripsy. However, no reports of serious bleeding complications have been published regarding ureteroscopy without laser lithotripsy in the management of stone disease. We report of such a case here and then review the current literature in order to discuss the incidence, risk factors, and management of such events.

Quantitative determination of hydroxy polycylic aromatic hydrocarbons as a biomarker of exposure to carcinogenic polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.

A high-resolution gas chromatography/high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRGC/HRMS) method was developed for quantitative analysis of hydroxy polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (OH-PAHs). Four hydroxy metabolites of known and suspected carcinogenic PAHs (benzo[a]pyrene (B[a]P), benz[a]anthracene (B[a]A), and chrysene (CRY)) were selected as suitable biomarkers of PAH exposure and associated risks to human health.
