The aim of the study was to examine correlations between the use of different kinds of intravascular catheters and the type of microorganisms isolated from blood cultures. Blood samples obtained from gastroenterology, oncology and daily chemotherapy wards were examined. The samples were taken from catheter and peripheral blood in situations where blood infection was suspected.

Escherichia coli null dnaJ and dnaKdnaJ mutants, when introduced to Hfr donor, impair its ability to DNA transfer during conjugation. The additive effect of both mutations was shown. Lack of DnaK and DnaJ chaperones also decrease the extent of proteolysis in mutant strains.
