Facile reduction of aryl halides with a combination of 5% Pd/C, B(OH), and 4-methylmorpholine is reported. Aryl bromides, iodides, and chlorides were efficiently reduced. Aryl dihalides containing two different halogen atoms underwent selective reduction: I over Br and Cl, and Br over Cl.

Copper-mediated reactions of diverse 1-hydroxy-1-benzotriazoles with aryl boronic acids lead to 1-aryl-1-benzotriazole 3-oxides. A 1-OH → 3 prototropy in the 1-hydroxy-1-benzotriazoles is plausibly the underlying basis, where the tautomer is captured by the boronic acid, leading to C-N (not C-O) bond formation.

This examination involves the use of two different ultrasound transducers: a low-frequency convex probe and high-frequency linear probe. When needed, the performance of these methods can be enhanced by the use of contrast media or Doppler techniques.
