We report a 62-year-old female with a 3-week history of a rapidly enlarging left neck mass with no associated symptoms. A neck CT showed a ~10 cm solid-appearing non-calcified left neck mass that markedly decreased in size on a one-month follow-up neck MRI, but with new extensive edema/intense enhancement in floor of the mouth.

We present the case of a 45-year-old male with no relevant prior medical history presenting with 6 months of migratory nodules, 2 months of drenching night sweats, and a 20 pound weight loss. Physical examination showed firm subcutaneous nodules with overlying ecchymoses present on the right lateral thigh and left lower back.

Materials And Methods: Using DCE and DWI, we evaluated 33 cervical lymph nodes. For the DCE technique, the maximum relative enhancement, relative enhancement, time to peak enhancement, wash-in rate, wash-out rate, brevity of enhancement, and area under the curve were calculated from a semi-quantitative analysis.
Diseases affecting the ear, nose, and throat are prevalent in intensive care settings and often require combined medical and surgical management. Upper airway occlusion can occur as a result of malignant tumor growth, allergic reactions, and bleeding events and may require close monitoring and interventions by intensivists, sometimes necessitating surgical management. With the increased prevalence of immunocompromised patients, aggressive infections of the head and neck likewise require prompt recognition and treatment.

Materials And Methods: The MR images of 100 patients with a histologically clarified head or neck mass, from two different institutions, were analyzed. Texture-based analysis was performed using texture analysis software, with region of interest measurements for 2 D and 3 D evaluation independently for all axial sequences.
Optic neuropathy involves loss of visual acuity, color vision, and visual field defect with a swollen, pale, anomalous, or normal optic disc seen on fundoscopy. Chiasmal disorders classically present with gradual onset of vision loss, bitemporal hemianopsia, and occasionally, endocrinopathy if the pituitary gland and/or hypothalamus are the causes or are involved. Advance in neuroimaging, especially magnetic resonance (MR) imaging, can reveal pathologic conditions previously detected only clinically.

Background And Purpose: Studies describing endolymphatic hydrops in Menière disease after off-label intratympanic gadolinium-based contrast have been limited by long acquisition times. We aimed to demonstrate the feasibility of post-intratympanic imaging on a 3T MR imaging system within a clinically tolerable acquisition time and to address potential pitfalls in acquisition or interpretation.
Materials And Methods: FDA Investigational New Drug 115,342 and institutional review board approval were obtained for intratympanic injection of 8-fold diluted Gd-DTPA into the more symptomatic ear of 6 adults with Menière disease.
Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between cochlear signal on fluid-attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) sequences and hearing in patients undergoing hearing preservation surgery for vestibular schwannoma (VS) and to demonstrate a new classification system to be used in imaging evaluation of patients with VS.
Methods: A search of archived surgical cases at a single institution between January 1, 2006, and January 1, 2012, revealed 51 patients who underwent hearing preservation surgery for VS. Tumor size, patient age and sex, and preoperative and postoperative pure-tone average (PTA) and speech discrimination score (SDS) were recorded.
Objective: To review the literature on the occurrences of aural polyps in patients with Samter's triad with a focus on familiarizing clinicians with the clinical presentation and the etiologic and therapeutic issues of this entity.
Study Design: Published reports of otologic manifestations of Samter's triad were reviewed in conjunction with 1 case presenting at University of California at San Diego medical center.
Setting: Academic, tertiary referral hospital
Patients And Interventions: The patient underwent bilateral aural polypectomy, tympanoplasty, mastoidectomy, and placement of tympanostomy tubes, revealing substantial polypoid tissue growth filling the external ear canal, middle ear space, and Eustachian tube.

Background And Purpose: Ocular masses represent a spectrum of malignant tumors and benign lesions that are sometimes difficult to detect and differentiate by conventional imaging techniques. The aim of this study was to characterize a group of malignant ocular masses with DWI, with the goals of establishing reference data and identifying potential clinical applications for improved noninvasive characterization.
Materials And Methods: With institutional review board approval, 26 malignant ocular masses in 22 patients were retrospectively analyzed.
Objective: To review the literature on inverting papilloma of the middle ear and mastoid with a focus on familiarizing clinicians with its presentation and cause and to discuss its epidemiologic, diagnostic, and therapeutic issues.
Study Design: Search of the English literature for cases of inverted papilloma of temporal bone in conjunction with 1 new case presenting at the UCSD Medical Center.
Setting: Academic, tertiary referral hospital.
