Introduction: Fluoroquinolones (FQ) are antibiotics which favour the emergence of resistance and remain widely prescribed in the French hospital environment. A focus of prescription recommendation was published by the French Infectious Diseases Society (SPILF) in 2015 in order to preserve their use. The pneumology-oriented medical service of Salon de Provence's hospital had high FQ consumption for the year 2015; thus a relevant assessment of prescriptions was carried out.

2,4-Dihydroxybutyric acid (DHB) is a molecule with considerable potential as a versatile chemical synthon. Notably, it may serve as a precursor for chemical synthesis of the methionine analogue 2-hydroxy-4-(methylthio)butyrate, thus, targeting a considerable market in animal nutrition. However, no natural metabolic pathway exists for the biosynthesis of DHB.

The filamentous fungus Talaromyces versatilis produces a wide range of cellulolytic and hemicellulolytic enzymes such as xylanases. The recent accessibility to the T. versatilis genome allows identifying two new genes, xynE and xynF, encoding glycoside-hydrolases from family GH11.

For a few years, the use of powered two-wheelers has taken off in Paris. It then became critical for the City of Paris to understand both the mechanisms leading to traffic accidents involving at least one powered two-wheelers user and the perception of their risk when riding in dense urban areas. In so doing, two studies were carried out along similar lines so that their results could be compared.

The secretome of Penicillium funiculosum contains two family GH7 enzymes, one of which (designated XynA) has been described as a xylanase. This is unusual because it is the only xylanase in family GH7, which is mainly composed of cellobiohydrolases and endoglucanases, and also because XynA is highly similar to the cellobiohydrolase I from Talaromyces emersonii and Trichoderma reesei (72 and 65 % identity, respectively). To probe this enigma, we investigated the biochemical properties of XynA, notably its activity on xylans and β-D-glucans.

West Nile Virus infection is an arbovirosis accidentally transmitted to humans from an aviary reservoir via an infected mosquito. Though a French surveillance network set up in 2001 reports low circulation in France, the virus is endemic in other territories. Approximately 80% of infected children remain asymptomatic, fever is seen in 20%, and very few develop a severe neurological disease in the patient's blood or spinal fluid.

MS/MS techniques are well customized now for proteomic analysis, even for non-sequenced organisms, since peptide sequences obtained by these methods can be matched with those found in databases from closely related sequenced organisms. We used this approach to characterize the protein content of the "Rovabio Excel", an enzymatic cocktail produced by Penicillium funiculosum that is used as feed additive in animal nutrition. Protein separation by bi-dimensional electrophoresis yielded more than 100 spots, from which 37 proteins were unambiguously assigned from peptide sequences.

The regulation of nitrile-hydratase biosynthese was studied in Brevibacterium sp R 312. Enzyme biosynthesis was not influenced by any carbon and nitrogen source used in the growth medium. It was, however, repressed by amide and amide analogues.
