Electrochemical exfoliation of graphite has attracted much attention as a practical mass production of two-dimensional graphene-like materials. There is an increasing desire to find new and improved methods to create unique exfoliated products with excellent functionality. We used aqueous ammonium hydrogen carbonate solution as a new electrolyte for anodic oxidative exfoliation of graphite.

Congenital protein C (PC) deficiency is a mostly autosomal dominant hereditary thrombophilia associated with early onset arterial and venous thrombotic diseases. In newborns, PC deficiency results in severe complications such as cerebral hemorrhage, cerebral infarction, and purpura fulminans, leading to death in some cases. We report two cases of deep vein thrombosis diagnosed during pregnancy that prompted genetic testing confirming definitive congenital PC deficiency.

During decidualization, the actin cytoskeleton is dynamically reorganized for the ESCs' morphological and functional changes. Although actin dynamically alters its polymerized state upon external stimuli not only in the cytoplasm, but also in the nucleus, nuclear actin dynamics during decidualization have not been elucidated.

Studies in cultured cells, animals, and humans consistently show increased NAD availability after NR supplementation, which is considered the only mode of NR action that leads to health benefits. In the present study, we show that a persistently low NR concentration (1 μM) in the growth medium of BEAS-2B human cells, grown in a monolayer, induces energy stress, which precedes a cellular NAD increase after 192 h.

Aim: To clarify the diagnostic process of the causative disease of abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB) in Japan according to the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics AUB diagnostic system.
Methods: Patients diagnosed with AUB were included in a nationwide survey of AUB conducted during any 2-week period between December 2019 and January 2020. The second survey included information on patient background, AUB symptoms, examinations for diagnosing AUB, the order in which they were performed, and the causative diseases of AUB.
Background: Ayahuasca is a South American plant hallucinogen rich in the psychedelic N,N-dimethyltryptamine and β-carbolines (mainly harmine). Preclinical and observational studies suggest that ayahuasca exerts beneficial effects in substance use disorders, but these potentials were never assessed in a clinical trial.
Methods: Single-center, single-blind, feasibility, proof-of-concept study, assessing the effects of one dose of ayahuasca accompanied by psychological support (without psychotherapy) on the drinking patterns (primary variable) of 11 college students with harmful alcohol consumption.
Purpose: We investigated the interactions between mural granulosa cells (MGCs) and cumulus granulosa cells (CGCs) during ovulation after the LH surge.
Methods: We performed clustering, pseudotime, and interactome analyses utilizing reported single-cell RNA sequencing data of mouse ovary at 6 h after eCG-hCG injection.
Results: Clustering analysis classified granulosa cells into two distinct populations, MGCs and CGCs.
Purpose: To test the theory that invaginated ovarian surface epithelium and endometrial implants on the ovary form ovarian endometriomas.
Methods: Adhesion sites of ovarian endometrioma on the peritoneum and consecutive ovarian endometrioma cyst wall, called non-adhesion sites, were histologically examined. DNA methylomes of the adhesion sites, non-adhesion sites, and blueberry spots were compared with those of ovary, endometrium, and peritoneum.
Objective: To establish prediction models for the diagnosis of the subtypes of uterine leiomyomas by machine learning using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) data.
Methods: This is a prospective observational study. Ninety uterine leiomyoma samples were obtained from 51 patients who underwent surgery for uterine leiomyomas.
An 80-year-old man with jaundice and fatigue was referred to our hospital. A laboratory examination revealed increased levels of hepatobiliary enzymes, and CA19-9 levels increased to 29,512 U/mL. Based on the findings of imaging examination and laboratory data, the patient was diagnosed with acute cholecystitis and choledocholithiasis.

The tumor showed dramatic growth between the 28 and 32 week of gestation and resulted in tachyarrhythmia. The patient was born at the 33 weeks of gestation weighing 2430 g via urgent cesarean section because the rapidly growing cardiac tumor caused incessant tachyarrhythmia, pericardial effusion, and fetal circulatory incompetence.

Methods: In a nationwide study, we enrolled first-time patients who visited target facilities during two consecutive weeks from December 1, 2019 to January 31, 2020. The FIGO classification was used to investigate patients with symptoms and causative diseases of AUB.
Somatic mutations in Mediator complex subunit 12 (MED12m) have been reported as a biomarker of uterine fibroids (UFs). However, the role of MED12m is still unclear in the pathogenesis of UFs. Therefore, we investigated the differences in DNA methylome, transcriptome, and histological features between MED12m-positive and -negative UFs.

Alternative iodine remediation technologies include microbial reduction of IO to iodide (I) and microbial methylation of I to volatile gases. The metal reduction pathway is required for anaerobic IO respiration by the gammaproteobacterium .

Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma coactivator 1-alpha (PGC-1α; PPARGC1A) is a transcriptional coactivator known to regulate H3K27ac. However, although PGC-1α is expressed in ESCs, the potential role of PGC-1α in mediating decidualization is unclear.

This study aimed to analyze the metabolic effect of a high-protein diet (HPD) in the presence or absence of proglucagon-derived peptides, including GCG and GLP-1. (2) Methods: The response to HPD feeding for 7 days was analyzed in mice deficient in proglucagon-derived peptides (GCGKO).

Direct measurement of de- and remyelination is required for monitoring the disease stage of MS, but no useful method has been established. In this study, we characterized four diaryl oxadiazole derivatives as novel myelin-imaging probes for single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT).

We previously reported that glucose uptake by human ESCs increases during decidualization and that glucose is indispensable for decidualization. Although glucose transporter 1 (GLUT1) is upregulated during decidualization, it remains unclear whether it is involved in glucose uptake.

However, it remains unclear how the changes in genome-wide gene expression are regulated. H3K4me3 histone modifications are involved in the rapid alteration of gene expression.

Previous studies indicated that melatonin treatment attenuates body weight gain and abdominal fat deposition in several male animals. However, it is unclear whether melatonin affects female animals in the same way.
