- Hypertrophic scars are raised areas on the skin that form due to too much healing after an injury, and they can look bad or cause problems for people.
- A study tested a new treatment using a special gel with losartan and compared it to a common treatment called triamcinolone on rabbits with scar tissue on their ears.
- Results showed that the losartan gel worked better than triamcinolone in reducing certain scar features, like redness and pigmentation, while both treatments helped improve overall scar appearance compared to no treatment at all.
Burn is one of the most common skin injuries and accounts for 300,000 deaths annually. Debridement and antibiotic therapy are major burn treatments, however, as debridement is not always possible and many drugs have poor penetration into necrotic tissue, permeation enhancement is acquired.
