Phosphatidic acid (PA) through its unique negatively charged phosphate headgroup binds to various proteins to modulate multiple cellular events. To perform such diverse signaling functions, the ionization and charge of PA's headgroup relies on the properties of vicinal membrane lipids and changes in cellular conditions. Cholesterol has conspicuous effects on lipid properties and membrane dynamics.

New World Health Organization (WHO) and family planning organization guidelines recommend situating contraceptive education and counseling within a broader context of self-care that emphasizes individual agency and reproductive empowerment. Digital health interventions, and games for health specifically, have been validated as effective and scalable tools for self-guided and interactive health education, especially among younger tech-savvy individuals.

Gene therapy using adeno-associated viruses (AAV) to deliver human cDNA (AAV-hSPB) can improve survival in a mouse model of SP-B deficiency. However, the effect of this gene therapy wanes.

However, there is limited research that has collected important insights from parents on their learnings for supporting their child's evolving healthcare needs.
Aim: This study focuses on parents' experiences and learnings from managing and supporting the health of their child with intellectual disability.
: Sinonasal mucosal melanoma (SNMM) is a rare and aggressive melanoma subtype with a notably poor prognosis compared to cutaneous melanoma (CM). Despite advances in molecular characterization, SNMM remains underexplored, posing a clinical challenge and highlighting the need for detailed molecular profiling. This study aimed to identify the molecular features of SNMM, elucidate its clinical behavior and prognostic implications, and provide insights for improved therapeutic strategies.

Our systematic review and meta-analysis aim to evaluate overall survival (OS) rates in patients with SNMM; : We conducted a systematic search, following PRISMA guidelines across PubMed, Web of Science (WOS), and citation searching for studies reporting survival and prognosis outcomes for SNMMs. Inclusion criteria included studies with 5-year OS rates.

While numerous studies have linked maternal smoking during pregnancy (MSDP) to widespread differences in child blood DNA methylation (DNAm), research specifically examining postnatal SHS exposure remains sparse. To address this gap, we conducted epigenome-wide meta-analyses to identify associations of postnatal SHS and child blood DNAm.

Therefore, the purpose of this study was to psychometrically evaluate concussion assessment tools used for intercollegiate student-athletes, with a focus on the time interval between baseline and subsequent assessments.
Methods: Ninety-two collegiate student-athletes matched between concussion ( = 46.
Objective: To evaluate the associations between complex hip surgery and subsequent hospitalizations in children with intellectual disability, including a subset of children with cerebral palsy.
Study Design: We conducted a retrospective cohort study using linked administrative, health, and disability data from Western Australia. Children born between 1983 and 2009 who underwent complex hip surgery by end 2014 were included (intellectual disability, n = 154; subset with cerebral palsy, n = 91).
A 14-year-old African American female patient presented to the emergency department with moderate right calf pain of unknown origin. The pain was present for a couple of days without radiation and progressed with an inability to bear weight. Physical examination revealed tenderness to palpation over the right calf.

Monitoring renal transplants with ultrasound is a critical component in the management of transplant patients both in the immediate aftermath of surgery and longitudinally. Many complications are detectable via ultrasound evaluation with relative prevalence dependent on the time since surgery.

Introduction: Depression is three to four times more prevalent in autistic people and is related to reduced quality of life. There is a need for empirically supported psychological interventions for depression specifically adapted to meet the needs of autistic adults. ADEPT-2 aims to establish the clinical and cost-effectiveness of an adapted low-intensity psychological intervention (guided self-help) for depression in autistic adults.

Most genes associated with schizophrenia risk involve ubiquitous targets that may not explain delayed emergence of dopaminergic disruptions.

However, provider observations and preliminary research suggest that the current standard maintenance dose may be insufficient for suppressing withdrawal and preventing cravings among people who use or have used fentanyl. Buprenorphine dosing guidelines were based on studies among people who use heroin and have not been formally re-evaluated since fentanyl became predominant in the unregulated drug supply.

Objectives: The objectives were to: (1) adapt a behavioural intervention for anxiety, develop an intervention fidelity checklist and logic model, and appraise candidate outcome measures, together with carers, autistic people, and clinicians, (2) characterise treatment-as-usual, (3) model the adapted intervention to determine the acceptability and feasibility for all stakeholders, judge the appropriateness of outcome measures, examine the feasibility and acceptability of consent and associated processes and (4) describe factors that facilitate or challenge intervention delivery.
Design: This study had two phases.
Sonographic detection of mobile echogenic foci within the main portal vein and its branches or within the liver parenchyma extending along the portal triads to the periphery of the liver is an alarming finding that has been associated with portal venous gas in the setting of bowel ischemia. Ultrasound-enhancing agents (UEAs) have been widely utilized in abdominal ultrasound for evaluation of organ neoplasms and vascular patency as well as in echocardiography for the evaluation of cardiac function. The appearance of UEAs on abdominal ultrasound can resemble gas like that seen in the portal venous system and liver in patients with bowel ischemia; therefore, UEA residuals should always be a part of the differential diagnosis of echogenic foci when seen on abdominal ultrasounds with preceding recent UEA administration.

The orbitofrontal cortex (OFC) and hippocampus (HC) both contribute to the cognitive maps that support flexible behavior. Previously, we used the dopamine neurons to measure the functional role of OFC. We recorded midbrain dopamine neurons as rats performed an odor-based choice task, in which expected rewards were manipulated across blocks.
