Introduction The cushion effect of soft liners serves to distribute the mastication forces and stresses more evenly, along with absorbing energy. Instead, soft liners can act as a nidus for microbial growth, especially Candida species. An accumulation of these fungi is a problem encountered during the clinical use of them, especially in immunocompromised individuals.

Reliability of distal radius fracture classification systems: a CT based study.

Objective: To assess the reliability and reproducibility of AO/OTA, Frykman and Fernandez classification systems for distal radius fractures on CT.

Materials And Methods: Four radiologists, including one radiology resident, two musculoskeletal radiology fellows and one radiology consultant independently evaluated CT scans of 115 patients with distal radius fractures and classified the fractures according to AO/OTA, Frykman and Fernandez classification system. To assess reproducibility, a second set of reading was done by two observers after an interval of six weeks.

Gender differentials in cognitive frailty among older adults in India: a multivariate decomposition approach.

There has been an increasing focus on the interplay between physical frailty and cognitive impairment, as both conditions pose significant risks for life-threatening health complications and are receiving considerable attention in global geriatric health initiatives. A recent consensus introduces "cognitive frailty," denoting the co-existence of physical frailty and cognitive impairment without dementia. This study aims to ascertain the prevalence of cognitive frailty and investigate the factors contributing to gender differentials of cognitive frailty among older adults in India.

Background: Dental procedures that generate aerosols, if not performed with precautions, are the source of infection during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

Objectives: The aim of the present study was to analyze dentists' awareness, knowledge and practice regarding the spread of coronavirus in India, to fill the knowledge gaps and to limit the spread of the virus while performing aerosol-generating procedures (AGPs).

Material And Methods: A cross-sectional survey containing 23 close-ended questions was conducted using the Google Forms platform.

MDCT evaluation of distal radius fractures and their association with carpal and distal ulnar fractures.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the characteristics of distal radius fractures (DRFs) in patients undergoing multi-detector computed tomography (MDCT) and their association with carpal and distal ulnar fractures.

Methods: This retrospective study analyzed 120 patients, who underwent MDCT for evaluation of DRFs. Two radiologists independently evaluated the data for various fracture characteristics and for associated carpal and distal ulnar fractures.

A pin retained restoration is an intricate restoration involving the insertion of one or more pins into the dentin to provide sufficient resistance and retention. These pins help in anchoring dental amalgam or composite to the tooth structure.

Factors associated with delayed initiation and non-exclusive breastfeeding among children in India: evidence from national family health survey 2019-21.

Background: In India, more than half of the newborns experience delayed breastfeeding, and non-exclusive breastfeeding is practiced in 63% of babies below the age of six months. The goal of this study is to investigate the extent to which external environment, demographic and socioeconomic, pregnancy and birthing characteristics, as well as utilization of maternal care services, are associated with delayed initiation and non-exclusive breastfeeding among children in India.

Methods: Data was gathered from the fifth round of the National Family Health Survey (NFHS), which was conducted in 2019-21.

Background: Cognitive impairment (CoI) is a significant risk factor for ill-health status among the older adults and a major burden on public health. This study unearths the degree of socioeconomic inequalities and assesses the determinants of CoI among the older adults in India.

Methods: Data on cognitive impairment of older adults aged 60 + years (n = 31,646) gathered in a nationally representative Longitudinal Ageing Study in India (2017-18) was analyzed through STATA with a significance level of 5%.

Bronchopulmonary arteriovenous malformation presenting as cryptogenic hemoptysis in a patient with bicuspid aortic valve.

We report the case of a 44-year-old male patient with bicuspid aortic valve, presenting with hemoptysis. Catheter angiography revealed an abnormal communication between bronchial and pulmonary artery, which remained undetected on computed tomography angiography. Angioembolization was done using polyvinyl alcohol and gelfoam particles.

Though use of barium esophagography/barium swallow has decreased in day to day clinical practice, it still remains a valuable test for structural and functional evaluation of esophagus. It can be performed as single or double contrast examination or as a multiphasic examination comprising upright double contrast views followed by prone single contrast views.

Large Unrepaired Aortopulmonary Window Presenting in Adulthood.

Background: Aortopulmonary window is an uncommon congenital heart disease, with untreated cases not surviving beyond childhood. However, very rarely it can present in adult patients with features of pulmonary hypertension. Clinically these patients cannot be differentiated from other more common conditions with left to right shunt.

Intercostal artery pseudoaneurysm in pulmonary tuberculosis - A rare cause of hemoptysis: A case report with review of the literature.

Pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) is one of the common causes of life-threatening hemoptysis, particularly in developing countries. Bronchial and pulmonary arteries are the major source of hemoptysis in pulmonary TB. Intercostal artery pseudoaneurysm as a cause of hemoptysis in pulmonary TB is extremely rare, with only a few reported cases.
