This is a secondary analysis of a trial comparing online mindfulness-based stress reduction with cognitive-behaviour therapy for people with rheumatoid arthritis. Both interventions were administered over eight weeks with five lessons and accompanied by weekly therapist contact. For the purposes of this study, we investigated the pain severity, fear of progression and functional ability as the outcome variables because the treatments had differential effects on these three outcomes but had equivalent effects on other variables.

This meta-analysis aimed to quantify associations between anxiety, depression, and pain/functional outcomes, and explore study and sample moderators, such as age, sex, pain duration, recruitment setting, and measurement tools.
Methods: We searched MEDLINE, PsycINFO, CENTRAL, and Embase through May 2024.
Importance: For youth with chronic pain, anxiety and depression are reported as consequences of experiencing pain and maintaining factors of ongoing pain and disability. However, prevalence estimates of anxiety and depression remain unclear.
Objective: To report the prevalence of clinical anxiety and depression for youth with chronic pain and compare symptoms of anxiety and depression between youth with and without chronic pain.
Background: Despite the demonstrated efficacy and potential scalability of self-guided digital treatments for common mental health conditions, there is substantial variability in their uptake and engagement. This study explored the decision-making processes, influences and support needs of people taking up a self-guided digital treatment for anxiety and/or depression.
Methods: Australian-based adults (n = 20) were purposively sampled from a trial of self-guided digital mental health treatment.
Background: Specific daily actions (eg, goal setting, meaningful activities) are associated with mental health. Performing specific daily actions at a higher frequency is associated with significantly lower baseline symptoms of depression and anxiety, as well as better psychological treatment outcomes for depression and anxiety.
Objective: This study explored how the frequency of specific daily actions associated with mental health may differ prior to, during, and following treatment according to demographic and clinical characteristics.

The present study aims to determine the physical intervention use of patients participating in an online psychological pain management program and whether exposure to physical interventions in these patients alters treatment outcomes compared with patients who do not access physical interventions.
Methods: Data were obtained from 2 previously published randomized controlled trials of an online psychological pain management program.
The 'Things You Do' encompass five types of actions that are strongly associated with good mental health: Healthy Thinking, Meaningful Activities, Goals and Plans, Healthy Habits, and Social Connections. Ultra-brief interventions which increase how often people perform these actions may decrease depression and anxiety.
