Cumulative evidence from histology-based studies demonstrate that the currently available intravascular imaging techniques have fundamental limitations that do not allow complete and detailed evaluation of plaque morphology and pathobiology, limiting the ability to accurately identify high-risk plaques. To overcome these drawbacks, new efforts are developing for data fusion methodologies and the design of hybrid, dual-probe catheters to enable accurate assessment of plaque characteristics, and reliable identification of high-risk lesions. Today several dual-probe catheters have been introduced including combined near infrared spectroscopy-intravascular ultrasound (NIRS-IVUS), that is already commercially available, IVUS-optical coherence tomography (OCT), the OCT-NIRS, the OCT-near infrared fluorescence (NIRF) molecular imaging, IVUS-NIRF, IVUS intravascular photoacoustic imaging and combined fluorescence lifetime-IVUS imaging.

Methods And Results: Three-vessel angiography, IVUS and NIRS evaluations were performed at three, six and nine months after induction of diabetes mellitus and hypercholesterolaemia in 13 Yorkshire pigs (n=37 arteries). In vivo total arterial plaque plus media (P+M) area, echo-attenuated plaque (AP) area by IVUS, and lipid core burden index (LCBI) by NIRS were compared to histology at nine months.
Pristine graphene particles prepared using an aqueous phase exfoliation technique have been used to promote the stabilization of emulsions through adsorption at the oil-water interface. Highly localized phase separation of these ultrastable emulsions could, however, be induced through photothermal heating of the graphene particles at the interface exposed to near-infrared light. The graphene wettability, which is a key determinant in preventing droplet coalescence was altered through the adsorption of nonionic block copolymer surfactants.

Method: A sample of 60 female adolescent inpatients with AN completed a self-report measure of compulsive exercise and a series of standardized self-report questionnaires assessing eating and general psychopathology.
Results: Higher levels of compulsive exercise were associated with increased levels of eating disorder psychopathology and anxiety.
While there have been many solutions proposed for storing and analyzing large volumes of data, all of these solutions have limited support for , especially given the many individuals and teams are simultaneously analyzing, modifying and exchanging datasets, employing a number of heterogeneous tools or languages for data analysis, and writing scripts to clean, preprocess, or query data. We demonstrate DataHub, a unified platform with the ability to load, store, query, collaboratively analyze, interactively visualize, interface with external applications, and share datasets. We will demonstrate the following aspects of the DataHub platform: (a) : multiple conference attendees can concurrently update the database and browse the different versions and inspect conflicts; (b) : conference attendees will be able to effortlessly ingest, query, and visualize data using our existing apps; (c) , : conference attendees will be able to analyze datasets in R, Python, and Matlab, while the inputs and the results are still stored in DataHub.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFObjective: Given the importance of weight restoration for recovery in patients with anorexia nervosa (AN), we examined approaches to refeeding in adolescents and adults across treatment settings.
Methods: Systematic review of PubMed, PsycINFO, Scopus, and Clinical Trials databases (1960-2015) using terms refeeding, weight restoration, hypophosphatemia, anorexia nervosa, anorexia, and anorexic.
Results: Of 948 screened abstracts, 27 met these inclusion criteria: participants had AN; reproducible refeeding approach; weight gain, hypophosphatemia or cognitive/behavioral outcomes.
Objective: To Identify whether early weight gain in family-based treatment (FBT) predicted greater weight and remission at end of FBT and 12-month follow-up.
Method: Eighty-two adolescents, with anorexia nervosa, participated in a randomized control trial comparing brief hospitalization for medical stabilization and hospitalization for weight restoration to 90% expected body weight (EBW) (1:1), followed by 20 sessions of FBT. Sixty-nine completed trial protocol.

Coronary angiography underestimates the magnitude of the atherosclerotic burden and cannot detect the presence of disease in the early phases. Recognition of these inherent limitations of angiography has been an impetus for the development of other coronary imaging techniques. The novel near-infrared spectroscopy-intravascular ultrasound (NIRS-IVUS) catheters can detect and quantify the presence of lipid core in the atherosclerotic plaque and associate it with other features such as lumen size and plaque architecture.

We evaluated relationships between intravascular ultrasound (IVUS)-derived PB and arterial remodeling with near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS)-derived lipid content in ex vivo and in vivo human coronary arteries.
Approach And Results: Ex vivo coronary NIRS and IVUS imaging was performed through blood in 116 coronary arteries of 51 autopsied hearts, followed by 2-mm block sectioning (n=2070) and histological grading according to modified American Heart Association criteria.
Background: The ADAM proteases are best known for their role in shedding the extracellular domain of transmembrane proteins. Among the transmembrane proteins shed by ADAM10 are notch, HER2, E-cadherin, CD44, L1 and the EGFR ligands, EGF and betacellulin.
