In this paper, we explore the usage of decision aids, patient information leaflets (PILs), videos, social media and modern technology to empower patients and enable shared decision-making (SDM). It explores the role of enhanced consent processes in urology. A re-evaluation of the conventional consent process is required towards more patient-centred care and SDM, which prioritises patient education and understanding of their medical conditions and treatment pathways.

Background And Objective: Cytoreductive treatments for patients diagnosed with de novo synchronous metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer (mHSPC) confer incremental survival benefits over systemic therapy, but these may lead to added toxicity and morbidity. Our objective was to determine patients' preferences for, and trade-offs between, additional cytoreductive prostate and metastasis-directed interventions.

Methods: A prospective multicentre discrete choice experiment trial was conducted at 30 hospitals in the UK between December 3, 2020 and January 25, 2023 (NCT04590976).

Sarcoid -like reactions (SLRs) can occur in several malignancies adjacent to primary tumour location or the draining lymph nodes. The presence of peritumoural and intratumoural SLR in patients suffering from renal cell carcinoma (RCC) has been reported in few instances. However, the association of RCC with SLR in spleen, liver and other organs in the absence of systemic sarcoidosis is very rare.

Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a common chronic urologic condition affecting approximately 50% of men above the age of 60. As per European Association of Urology Guidelines, BPH can be treated according to a stepwise approach starting from a conservative management, a pharmacologic approach, and finally surgery. Both medical and surgical therapies have side effects, impacting on ejaculation and sexual function and patients with multiple comorbidities might not be considered surgically suitable candidates.

Introduction: Congenital anomalies of the kidney and urinary tract (CAKUT) represent a wide range of disorders that result from developmental abnormalities of the kidneys, urinary collecting tract, and lower urinary tract. There has been extensive development in approaches to the management of stones in normal kidneys with the advent of retrograde intra-renal surgeries (RIRS)/ureteroscopies, extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL), and minimally invasive surgery (laparoscopy/robotics). However, the management of stones in CAKUT is not straightforward and is often challenging for urologists.

Currently, there is no clear consensus regarding the role of active surveillance (AS) in the management of intermediate-risk prostate cancer (IRPC) patients. We aim to analyse data from the available literature on the outcomes of AS in the management of IRPC patients and compare them with low-risk prostate cancer (LRPC) patients. A comprehensive literature search was performed, and relevant data were extracted.

Background And Objectives: The occurrence of obstetric morbidity is on the rise in developing countries. The peri-partum period is very crucial as most of the deaths occur during labour or in the first 24 hours of the post-partum period. Early recognition and treatment of disease entities leading to obstetric morbidity can be performed by the "track and trigger" system of parameters on a chart, thus preventing the obstetric morbidity and mortality.

Osteoarticular tuberculosis of the wrist is a very rare subset of skeletal Tuberculosis. Diagnosing the tuberculosis wrist in its early stage poses a major challenge to the clinicians because of its atypical and vague presentations and a close resemblance to many relatively benign pathologies. Clinicians from developed parts of the world having less exposure to the myriad forms of osteoarticular tuberculosis are more likely to miss it.
