This study investigates the impact of cellulose-derived polymers, anionic carboxymethylcellulose (CMC), and cationic cellulose (CC) on the colloidal and thermal stability of zeolite Na-X materials. By exploring polymer adsorption onto Na-X surfaces and characterising the resultant materials, using FT-IR, XPS, SEM, PSD, CHN, and zeta potential, the research unveils how CMC and CC modify zeolite properties. This investigation elucidates the potential roles of these polymers in colloidal systems with zeolites, revealing their promise for crafting organic-inorganic materials.

The paper presents the colloidal and thermal stability of the three-component hybrid materials containing halloysite, polysaccharides (alginic acid, cationic cellulose and hydroxyethyl cellulose) and Tritons. TX-100, TX-165 and TX-405 were used as non-ionic surfactants. Stability and other properties of the hybrid materials were tested by the following methods: UV-Vis, TGA (thermogravimetric analysis) and DSC (differential scanning calorimetry), CHN (elemental analysis), SEM-EDX (scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy) and tensiometry.

The paper presents the studies on the processes at the interface of the colloidal suspensions composed of clay mineral - glauconite (GT) and polysaccharide - sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (NaCMC) with the cold plasma treatment (CPT). The surface composition and chemical binding in NaCMC and GT changes are determined by means of FTIR and XPS (both methods detected the incorporation of oxygen-related functional groups). Moreover, the additional information about both the textural properties and morphological changes on the surfaces before and after CPT are studied using the BET, CHN, SEM HRTEM and STEM-EDS methods.

Li-Ce-Ta (LCT) pegmatites containing lithium mineralization in the form of spodumene and lepidolite, as well as fuchsite, from the regions of northern Scandinavia (N Norway, N Finland, N Russia) were studied. Detailed analyses of the chemical compositions of these minerals were carried out, involving scanning electron microscopy (SEM) with energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy with attenuated total reflectance (ATR), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) studies. Their crystal structures were confirmed with the X-ray diffraction technique.

A mechanochemical method was used to obtain four new quercetin (QUE) co-crystals. Three co-formers have the systems of the heterocyclic rings with the oxygen and nitrogen atoms and they form co-crystals at the stoichiometric ratio of 1 : 2. In contrast, the QUE : o-dianisidine co-crystal represents the 1 : 1 stoichiometry and the former molecule is the aniline derivative.

Three new solid lanthanide complexes with nalidixic acid (HNal) with the stoichiometry [Ln(Nal)]·5·.5HO (Ln = Tb, Dy and Ho) were synthesized applying the green synthesis method from the aqueous solutions without the organic solvent addition and fully characterized by the elemental analysis, XRF, complexometric titration, gravimetric analysis, molar conductivity and solubility measurements, powder X-Ray diffraction, UV-Vis and infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopies. Moreover, the luminescent properties of the Tb(III), Dy(III), and Ho(III) complexes in the solid state and in the solutions were investigated.

The influence of star-shaped (PAA-SS) and linear polyacrylic acid (PAA) with different molecular weights (high-PAA-HMW and low-PAA-LMW) on the structure of the adsorption layer, adsorption amount, electrokinetic and stabilizing properties of the PAA/CTAB/nanoclay suspensions was studied. The properties of the systems containing one of these polymers, the cationic surfactant-hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and the surface-modified nanoclay (N-SM) were analyzed using the following techniques: BET, CHN, FT-IR, ED-XRF, XRD, HRTEM, UV-Vis, tensiometry and zeta potential measurements. It was proved that PAA could be used as an effective stabilizer of N-SM.

The main purpose of the research was to obtain and study hybrid materials based on three different nano-oxides commonly used in the cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries: AlO, TiO, and ZnO, with the natural bioactive polysaccharide fucoidan. Since the mentioned oxides are largely utilized by industry, there is no doubt that the presented studies are important from an environmental point of view. On the basis of the textural studies (dynamic light scattering DLS, low temperature nitrogen adsorption, X-ray diffraction analysis XRD, scanning electron microscopy SEM) it was proved that the properties of the hybrid materials differ from the pure components of the system.

The mixtures of cationic cellulose (CC) or cationic guar gum (CGG) with the anionic sodium dodecyl sulfate surfactant (SDS) were used as stabilizers for the aqueous suspensions of montmorillonite (Mt). The stabilization processes and the stabilization mechanism were investigated using the UV-VIS. The obtained results show that both polysaccharides can be used as stabilizers of the water suspensions of montmorillonite due to the effective adsorption of CC and CGG with or without SDS on the Mt.

The influence of the pseudoamphoteric zwitterionic surfactant cocamidopropylbetaine (CAPB) on the stabilizing flocculating properties of the aqueous suspensions of glauconite (GT) with cationic guar gum (CGG) at various pH values was investigated. The paper presents the contribution of the cocrystallization method in the physicochemical modification of catechins that exhibit low oral bioavailability. This was done to obtain cocrystals for two naturally occurring polyphenolic diastereoisomers (+)-catechin and (-)-epicatechin with commonly used coformers. Due to distinct crystallization behavior, only the (-)-epicatechin cocrystal with barbituric acid in a 1:1 stoichiometry was obtained.

In the present study, we compared the anticancer potential of quercetin (3,3',4',5,7-pentahydroxyflavone, I) and its sulfonic derivatives sodium/potassium quercetin-5'-sulfonates (described as II and III) against several human carcinoma cell lines. Quercetin (I) was used as a starting compound for synthesis of II and III. In this work, a modified and more efficient method of synthesizing derivatives II and III has been described.
