Under stress, protein synthesis is attenuated to preserve energy and mitigate challenges to protein homeostasis. Here, we describe, with high temporal resolution, the dynamic landscape of changes in the abundance of proteins synthesized upon stress from transient mitochondrial inner membrane depolarization. This nascent proteome was altered when global translation was attenuated by stress and began to normalize as translation was recovering.

In this context, valine based, heteroditopic receptor 1 was prepared and its ability to bind simultaneously potassium cation and acetate anion in water containing CHCN solutions was demonstrated. Under liquid-liquid extraction conditions the receptor 1 was capable of extracting hydrophilic AcOK salt from aqueous solution and was proved to be nearly ten times more effective than the equimolar mixture of monotopic receptors.

The research covered 122 patients with obstructive sleep apnoea and coexisting effectively treated systemic hypertension (95 men, 27 women, average age: 54 ± 10.

Objective: The aim of the study was to determine the levels of novel markers of fibrogenesis and angiogenesis in patients with alcoholic liver cirrhosis.
Heterotopic tri-cationic receptors based on 4,10,16-triaza-18-crown-6 are capable of efficient and selective binding of the zwitterionic form of 5-aminovaleric acid (5-AVA) in aqueous/methanol solution. The cooperative participation of both cation and anion binding domains of this receptor in 5-AVA complexation was established by H NMR experiments and DFT calculations. Heterotopic receptors and fluorescein were used for the preparation of indicator displacement assay and this assembly was applied to selective optical sensing of 5-aminovaleric acid.

Hypoxia is suspected to be one of conditions associated with Aβ plasma level increase. A common reason of hypoxia is obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), characterized by recurrent episodes of apnea.

Unprecedented extraction of highly hydrophilic KAcO salt from water to organic solution is also demonstrated.

These ion-binding domains are assembled together by the l-ornithine scaffold. Qualitative cation coordination studies of receptor 1, supported by quantitative data received for monotopic N-(3-nitrobenzyl)-aza-18-crown-6 (3a), have shown that 1 has a strong affinity for Na, K and NH cations.

Patients And Methods: The study group (PSG-confirmed OSAS) included 62 individuals, aged 51.7±10.
Background: The aim of the study has been to assess the usefulness of the Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS) and the Berlin Questionnaire (BQ) for obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) screening. The capacity of both tests to discriminate between healthy individuals or with mild OSAS (apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) < 15/h) vs. patients with moderate or severe OSAS (AHI ≥ 15/h) was evaluated.

Alpha-2-antiplasmin (a-2-AP) and plasminogen activator inhibitor 1 (PAI-1) are major inhibitors of the fibrinolytic system. Increased concentrations of these factors are associated with a higher risk of cardiovascular diseases.

The design features a 2,2-bis(aminomethyl)propionic acid core to connect and pre-organize binding groups. The cation binding is provided by a sodium selective N-acyl aza-18-crown-6 subunit whereas for anion complexation, two urea groups (receptor 2) or two squaramide groups (receptor 3) were introduced.

An increasing amount of attention is paid to their role in anti-tumor immunity.
Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate the percentage of peripheral blood, peritoneal fluid and cancer tissue CD4+ and CD8+ T lymphocytes producing IL-17 in patients with ovarian cancer
Material And Methods: Forty patients operated due to advanced ovarian carcinoma and twenty-four patients with functional follicle ovarian cysts were recruited.
Aim: defining the epidemiological trend in community acquired and nosocomial rotavirus infections in children hospitalized in the Department of Paediatrics of the Warsaw Bielany Hospital; 2005-2007. Assessment of the correlation with respect to age, sex and month of the year.
Materials: we reviewed 1126 case histories of patients age from 1 month to 16 years (median 19 months) admitted to the Hospital because of vomiting and diarrhea.
Aim: To establish the occurrence of SIDS risk factors (including 'removable' ones) and the incidence of the ecg long QT interval (accepted as a risk factor) and their influence upon infants development and morbidity.
Material And Methods: A group of 98 infants from normal birth at term to the end of first year of life was observed. The data sources were as follows: 1) a questionnaire filled by mothers before discharge front maternity ward, 2) records of four consecutive medical examinations (including ecg records) performed on 3rd day and 3rd, 6th and 12th month of life.
