Methods: The study is based on 54 consecutive patients with extrinsic elbow contracture (traumatic in 31 and degenerative in 23) treated with arthroscopic arthrolysis by a single surgeon in 2011-2015. Range of motion (ROM) and the Mayo Elbow Performance Score (MEPS) were recorded preoperatively; intraoperatively; following release; and in the 1st, 3rd, 8th, 12th, and 26th weeks and at 2 years postoperatively.
In throwing sports shoulder is exposed to enormous and often repetitive overloads. Some sports (contact sports) are also connected with direct trauma. We are thus dealing with traumatic injuries, overload and degenerative damage.

However, we have no data that show a direct relationship between the number of mesothelial cells, their functional properties, and the amount of CA125 produced in these cells.
Methods: Experiments were performed on primary in vitro cultures of human peritoneal mesothelial cells obtained from 32 donors of various ages and of both sexes.
Background: During peritoneal dialysis, mesothelial cells are chronically exposed to high concentrations of glucose. Therefore, the cytotoxic effect of glucose may alter the function and reactivity of these cells.
Methods: For 4 weeks, human peritoneal mesothelial cells were cultured in vitroin medium supplemented with 45 mM glucose or 45 mM mannitol or with 45 mM glucose and 1 mM L-2-oxothiazolidine-4-carboxylic acid (OTZ), the latter being a precursor for glutathione synthesis.
