[Humeral shaft fracture in childhood].

In a collective study of twelve surgical clinics 222 diaphyseal fractures of the humerus in children were examined. 159 children were checked up two to 14 years after the accident. Priority was given to conservative treatment: Désault or Gilchrist dressing (24%), arm cast (34%), extension (29%), change from primary extension to secondary dressing or cast (27%), osteosynthesis (10%).

[Indications, technique and results in treatment of the chronically unstable ankle joint].

This paper shall prove that with the chronic unstable ankle-joint the unit of both joints is to be taken into account. This unit consists anatomically as well as biomechanically and neuromuscularly. The practicable diagnostic of the instability in the lower ankle-joint ist presented.

[A surgical technical improvement of temporary bore wire fixation].

The problems involved in temporary drilling wire fixation is described with reference to fracture of the humeral head as an example. The difficulties can be resolved with a developed drill bush.

[Treatment principles of chronic recurrent elbow dislocation].

The chronic recurrent luxation of the elbow is a seldom event. The specific diagnostic uncovers the pathomorphology of the injury. Stabilization has to be carried out according to the pattern of injury.

[Ligament lesions of the subtalar joint].

Emphasis of the article is on the chronic instabilities in the ankle joint and the talocalcaneonavicular joint. The diagnosis of these lesions is demonstrated. An easy to perform technique of x-ray film to prove chronic instability in the talocalcaneonavicular joint is presented.

[Current knowledge of the compartment syndrome].

Our present level of knowledge of the compartment-syndrome, which is represented here, is based on an intensive literary study, our own scientific researches and clinical experiences. The results are summarized in thesises. The compartment-syndrome is to be noticed in more than 80% in the region of the forearm or shank.

[Errors and dangers in surgical traumatology with special reference to surgical tactics and technique].

In one hospital the operative treatment of fractures within ten years had been critically analysed. The established mistakes and risks unambiguously show reserves for the improvement of the results in the treatment. Despite the avoidable operational-tactic and -technic mistakes the result of the medical attendance often ist negative.

[Pressure conditions in adjoining spaces in a provoked compartment syndrome].

A compartment-syndrome can't be provoked experimentally in the upper arm sphere. The pressure does not change in adjoining spheres. In the tibial-anterior-loge enormous pressure values are reached by the extension of volume but adjoining and subcutaneous spheres are hardly influenced.

[Errors and risks of Ender condyle nailing in fractures of the trochanter region in elderly patients].

After showing the advantages of the Ender-nailing in case of trochanteric fractures in elderly people the own results with implant material in our country are introduced. The so called nail, which is 5 mm in diameter and sufficient long is a usefull flexible nail for the operative treatment of the above mentioned fractures. The observed complications were coincident with publications of the other authors and the analysis shows they can be reduced.

[Intra-articular pressure in the large joints--a biomechanical variable pressure pump system].

Because of the anatomy and biomechanics intraarticular pressure modifications are caused by loading and movement of a joint. These continuous pressure alterations are examined in the hip joint of cadavers and in the shoulder-joint of cadavers and volunteers. The clinical importance is shown.

[The lower ankle joint. Anatomic and pathophysiologic observations].

The lower ankle joint is highly variable in ligamental guidance. It has to be considered in unity with the upper ankle joint. Biomechanical investigations have shown the posterior lower ankle joint to be relatively unstable primarily in supination position.

[Clinical experiences in the use of "autogenized" spongiosa].

Autogenic spongiosa is of the highest biological valence. The principle of autogenisation of allogenic spongiosa is described in this paper. Reference is made to quantitative and qualitative advantages of the procedure.
