Background: While weightbearing computed tomography (WBCT) has been instrumental in analyzing total ankle arthroplasty (TAA) positioning, there is a notable gap in the literature regarding adaptive changes in the foot's medial column after TAA. This study aims to bridge this gap by comparing preoperative and postoperative alignments of the foot's medial column and analyzing if a correlation exists between TAA coronal alignment correction and medial column alignment adaptation.

Methods: Sixty patients who underwent a lateral approach TAA for end-stage osteoarthritis (OA) between January 2021 and April 2023 were included in this retrospective study.

Purpose: Weight-bearing computed tomography (WBCT) enables the creation of a three-dimensional (3D) model that represents the ankle morphology in a standing position. Distance mapping (DM) is a complementary feature that uses color coding to represent the relative intraarticular distance and can be used to outline intraarticular defects. Consequently, DM offers a novel approach to delineating osteochondral lesions of the talus (OLT), allowing for the quantification of its surface, volume and depth.

Total ankle replacement through a lateral transfibular approach with trabecular metal implants was introduced in 2012 and originally was advertised as a safer approach in terms of wound healing issues. Further studies showed no significant difference comparing anterior and lateral approach for infections and would healing issues, whereas the main advantage is deformity correction, acting on coronal, sagittal, and rotational deformities and on fibular length issues. It showed a survival rate of 97.

Background: Evans (E-LCL) and Hintermann LCL (H-LCL) lateral column lengthening osteotomies are standard surgical solutions for flexible, progressive collapsing feet. E-LCL is performed between the anterior and middle facets and endangers specific os calcis subtalar joint (OCST) subtypes without distinct facets. H-LCL is oriented between the posterior and middle facets and should be suitable for all OCSTs.

Background: The current reference standard for postoperative evaluation of total ankle arthroplasty (TAA) positioning, weightbearing radiography (WBXR), is subject to technical bias. Weightbearing cone beam computed tomography (WBCT) enables visualization of the foot's complex 3-dimensional (3D) structure under standing load. To date, no WBCT-based system for TAA positioning has been validated.

Background: Post-operative alignment is the most critical indicator for a successful total ankle arthroplasty (TAA). Total ankle malrotation is associated with an increased risk for polyethylene wear and medial gutter pain. Currently, there is no consensus on the correct way to measure the alignment of the tibial and talar component rotations in the axial plane.

Background: The etiology of symptomatic pediatric pes planus (PP) deformity is unclear. Reduced os calcis subtalar joint (OCST) anterior facet morphology has been suggested to result in less support to the talar head and a higher propensity to develop PP deformity. Weightbearing computed tomography (WBCT) and distance mapping (DM) offer new opportunities to investigate PP deformity in general and the OCST specifically.

(1) Background: recently, the use of alcohol-based hand sanitizers (ABHSs) has become very frequent, and an evaluation of the stability and effectiveness of their formulations is a critical topic which should be carefully considered. (2) Methods: starting from the characterization of the hand sanitizers object of the study, our interest was focused on their rheological behavior in order to confirm their intrinsic features, but also the stability of each formulation in different conditions of shear and temperature; the second aspect concerns the antimicrobial assessment through a panel of in vitro and in vivo experimental trials. (3) Results: rheological investigation confirmed good stability for the two hand sanitizers in gel formula with respect to the reference in liquid formula; the antimicrobial activity evaluation showed good efficacy of each formulation both in vitro and in vivo.

(1) Background: Dermal fillers are commonly used in aesthetic practice and their rheological characterization is of much interest today, as well as the stability study of the finished formula against external stimuli of a different nature (biological and physicochemical). Rheological tools have been exploited to characterize the physiochemical behaviour of a hyaluronic acid (HA) based dermal filler subjected to different thermal conditions over time. The collected results provide an index of its rheological stability.

Given that most ankle replacements are post-traumatic in origin, it is important to investigate if prior interventions affect a patient's functional outcomes or increase the possibility of complications. Prior ankle surgeries create scar tissue and zones of impaired vascularity which could ultimately interfere with surgical healing. The purpose of this study is to assess the pain and functional temporal outcomes of patients with and without prior surgeries in the ipsilateral ankle.

Skin ageing has many manifestations such as wrinkles, dryness, hyperpigmentation, and uneven skin tone. Extrinsic and intrinsic factors, especially solar ultraviolet light (UVB), contribute to skin ageing; its main features are brown spots, alterations in melanin pigmentation, and a decrease in collagen and hyaluronic acid linked to oxidative stress. Several studies showed that topical products containing ingredients with antioxidant activity can reduce oxidative damage; to provide a maximum anti-ageing effect to the skin, topical products can combine various ingredients.
