We investigated whether the maximum residual levels of trimethoprim permitted in food (Acceptable Daily Intake-ADI) could select for de novo trimethoprim resistance in in vivo. We designed chronic infection models of in and exposed them to sub-ADI doses of trimethoprim through a single-dosing regimen. The emergence of trimethoprim resistance was determined by isolating the target bacteria on selective agar plates, followed by species confirmation using MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry.

Background: Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination has been offered in over a hundred countries worldwide (including the United Kingdom, since September 2008). Controversy around adverse effects persists, with inconsistent evidence from follow-up of randomized controlled trials and confounding by indication limiting the conclusions drawn from larger-scale observational studies. This study aims to estimate the association between receiving a quadrivalent HPV vaccine and the reporting of short-term adverse effects and to demonstrate the utility of regression discontinuity design for examining side effects in routine data.

Hidden boron catalysis plagues catalyzed hydroboration reactions, with the "catalyst" acting to mediate the decomposition of HBpin/HBcat to BH which is the actual (hidden) catalyst. ,,,'-Tetramethylethylenediamine (TMEDA) has been used to identify hidden boron catalysis through trapping/inhibition. Kinetic analyses showed that TMEDA inhibition is only applicable below 60 °C and that other amine traps are likewise ineffective.

Digital innovations provide novel opportunities to individualize a person's care to best match their lifestyle needs and circumstances and to support them as they live their daily lives with diabetes. These innovations also serve to provide actionable data and insights for the care team giving them a "Webb telescope-like" view into their individual self-management journey, allowing them to see what cannot be seen during infrequent and limited office visits, thereby facilitating collaboration and communication to optimize the care plan on a timely basis. Technology advances are enabling diabetes care to transition from episodic, synchronous, primarily in-person care to include synchronous virtual care options and to continuous, on-demand, data-informed, asynchronous digital care better matching the demands of living with a relentless 24/7 chronic condition.

Background: Some studies have shown that the incidence of type 2 diabetes increases after a diagnosis of COVID-19, although the evidence is not conclusive. However, the effects of the COVID-19 vaccine on this association, or the effect on other diabetes subtypes, are not clear. We aimed to investigate the association between COVID-19 and incidence of type 2, type 1, gestational and non-specific diabetes, and the effect of COVID- 19 vaccination, up to 52 weeks after diagnosis.

Objectives: Rates of PTSD are up to 12 times higher in care-experienced young people (CEYP) compared to their peers. Trauma-focused CBTs (tf-CBT) are the best-evidenced treatment for youth with PTSD, yet, in practice, CEYP often struggle to access this treatment. We worked alongside services to understand barriers and facilitators of the implementation of cognitive therapy for PTSD (a type of tf-CBT) to CEYP.
