It is approved for the treatment of mycosis fungoides, Hodgkin's lymphoma, and systemic anaplastic large cell lymphoma. Testosterone and dihydrotestosterone (DHT) are essential for male development and fertility. In the canonical androgen production pathway, testosterone is produced in the testis by HSD17B3; however, adult male Hsd17b3 knockout (KO) mice continue to produce androgens and are fertile, indicating compensatory mechanisms exist. A second, alternate pathway produces DHT from precursors other than testosterone via 5α-reductase (SRD5A) activity.

Primary care providers (PCPs) report insufficient capacity for child and youth mental health care (CYMH). The telementoring program Project ECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) can build capacity, but 75- to 120-minute sessions are a participation barrier. Using a Lean health care paradigm, we designed a 60-minute session, and compared self-reported CYMH capacity strengthening (10 constructs) and satisfaction between 60- and 90-minute sessions.

Very High Energy Electron (VHEE) beams are a promising alternative to conventional radiotherapy due to their highly penetrating nature and their applicability as a modality for FLASH (ultra-high dose-rate) radiotherapy. The dose distributions due to VHEE need to be optimised; one option is through the use of quadrupole magnets to focus the beam, reducing the dose to healthy tissue and allowing for targeted dose delivery at conventional or FLASH dose-rates. This paper presents an in depth exploration of the focusing achievable at the current CLEAR (CERN Linear Electron Accelerator for Research) facility, for beam energies >200 MeV.

Assessment of coupling between transtibial sockets and users is historically based on clinicians' observations and experience, but can be inaccurate and unreliable. Therefore, we present a proof of concept, for five out of six possible degrees of freedom coupling metric system for a socket, using motion analysis calibrated on a 3D printed limb substitute. The method is compatible with any socket suspension method and does not require prior modifications to the socket.

Purpose: In proton therapy, the clinical application of linear energy transfer (LET) optimization remains contentious, in part because of challenges associated with the definition and calculation of LET and its exact relationship with relative biological effectiveness (RBE) because of large variation in experimental in vitro data. This has raised interest in other metrics with favorable properties for biological optimization, such as the number of proton track ends in a voxel. Introduction: This essay suggests that sociologists should integrate into their critical research work on the Americas an Indigenous critique/method based on Indigenous knowledge. As a mixed Indigenous scholar, I have been frustrated by the lack of frameworks based explicitly on Indigenous knowledge rather than merely referencing that knowledge.

Methods: Strong foundations of ancient Indigenous thought and philosophical tradition-which often differs dramatically from Western traditions-are identified and explored through three concepts: Ch'ixi, the Indigenous pragmatic, and Mexica concepts of Truth.

Background The role of non-invasive (continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) or Non-invasive ventilation (NIV)) respiratory support (NIRS) as a primary oxygenation strategy for COVID-19 patients with acute severe hypoxic respiratory failure (AHRF), as opposed to invasive mechanical ventilation (invasive-MV), is uncertain. While NIRS may prevent complications related to invasive MV, prolonged NIRS and delays in intubation may lead to adverse outcomes. Immunofluorescent tagging of DNA double-strand break (DSB) markers, such as γ-H2AX and other DSB repair proteins, are powerful tools in understanding biological consequences following irradiation. However, whilst the technique is widespread, there are many uncertainties related to its ability to resolve and reliably deduce the number of foci when counting using microscopy. We present a new tool for simulating radiation-induced foci in order to evaluate microscope performance within in silico immunofluorescent images.

Anaplastic thyroid cancer (ATC) is among the most aggressive of human cancers, and currently there are few effective treatments for most patients. YM155, first identified as a survivin inhibitor, was highlighted in a high-throughput screen performed by the National Cancer Institute, killing ATC cells in vitro and in vivo. However, there was no association between survivin expression and response to YM155 in clinical trials, and YM155 has been mostly abandoned for development despite favorable pharmacokinetic and toxicity profiles.
