Camera traps deployed with olfactory attractants are used to survey rare and elusive carnivores. Study areas with deep snowpack and rugged terrain present challenges and risks to field personnel, who traditionally must revisit camera stations regularly to refresh attractants. In such locations, alternative overwinter survey protocols that include a persistent attractant would improve both the safety and efficiency of camera-trap surveys.

We used camera trapping as a lens to view mammal responses to changes in human activity during the COVID-19 pandemic. Across 163 species sampled in 102 projects around the world, changes in the amount and timing of animal activity varied widely.

The focus is on the Greek-Cypriot context, where research on health literacy is still in its nascent stages.

Background: Healthcare organizations expect CNs to participate in scholarly inquiry, incorporating evidence-based interventions to improve outcomes and safety. How the MLNM supports and engages CNs in scholarly inquiry remains unclear.
Introduction: A diverse group of nurses and research Network Coordinators formed a collaboration to advance nursing research within Johns Hopkins Clinical Research Network, a partnership of academic and community hospitals in the mid-Atlantic region. The purpose of the Nurse Research Collaborative (NRC) is to provide mentoring, mutual growth, and assist the health care organizations to fulfill nursing research requirements.
Background: We created a multiinstitutional nursing research organization with diversity of member participants and health care facilities.
Objectives: This integrative review of literature explores the best practice for establishing and maintaining a hospital-based nurse preceptor program. The intent is to provide nurse leadership and educators with guidance for optimizing preceptor programs in order to improve patient, staff, and organizational outcomes.
Design: The project team conducted an integrative review of literature to inform best practice using the Johns Hopkins Evidence-Based Practice Model and Guidelines.
Objective: Researchers examined professional nursing governance perception differences by RN type (clinical, manager, and other RNs), and nurse-related outcome associations.
Background: Shared governance is associated with improved nurse-related outcomes. Understanding differences in RN types regarding shared governance perceptions is important and not well studied.
There is increasing empirical focus on the effects of early traumatic brain injuries (TBI; i.e., before the age of six years) on child development, but this literature has never been synthetized comprehensively.

Nurses receive limited education on LGBTQ health issues and even less information specifically about LGBTQ older adults. This study exposed novice nurses to the documentary, Gen Silent, which details LGBTQ older adult experiences.

Inpatient hypoglycemia may lead to increased risk for morbidity, mortality, prolonged hospitalization, and readmission within 30 days of discharge, which in turn may lead to increased costs. Hospital-wide initiatives targeting hypoglycemia are known to be beneficial; however, their impact on patient care and economic measures in community nonteaching hospitals are unknown.

Unnecessary or duplicate dispensation of insulin pens is associated with increased healthcare costs.
Methods: Inpatient dispensation of insulin pens in a 240-bed community hospital between July 2018 and July 2019 was analyzed.
Introduction: There is a dearth of research to guide acute adolescent mental health inpatient care. Self-determination Theory provides evidence that meeting needs for relatedness, autonomy and competence is likely to increase wellbeing and intrinsic motivation. These needs may be able to be met in the inpatient environment.

Methods: Electric scooter-associated presentations to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital Emergency and Trauma Centre from November 2018 to January 2019 were identified. Data collected included patient demographics, type and location of injuries, helmet use, alcohol consumption, length of stay and disposition.
: Hospitalized patients with diabetes are at risk of complications and longer length of stay (LOS). Inpatient Diabetes Management Services (IDMS) are known to be beneficial; however, their impact on patient care measures in community, non-teaching hospitals, is unknown. : To evaluate whether co-managing patients with diabetes by the IDMS team reduces LOS and 30-day readmission rate (30DR).

School nurses perform a crucial role in the prevention, identification, intervention, and reporting of child maltreatment. The purpose of this article is to share the highlights of a research project conducted to (a) examine the effectiveness of an educational intervention program in increasing the knowledge, confidence, and self-efficacy in school nurses regarding children at risk of maltreatment; and (b) discover issues surrounding the comfort level engaging with children, communicating with teachers and other personnel, and ethical issues. The study consisted of two phases.

Pertussis is a highly contagious acute respiratory illness. Prior to the availability of the whole-cell pertussis vaccine in the late 1940s, pertussis was one of the most common infectious diseases of childhood in the United States and a major cause of infant morbidity and mortality. Although pertussis vaccination has resulted in a substantial reduction in the disease, the incidence has been steadily increasing since the 1990s.

Design: Prospective cohort study.
Setting: University-affiliated level 1 trauma center.
Unlabelled: A transfecting agent-coated hybrid imaging nanoprobe (HINP) composed of visible and near-infrared (NIR) light emitting quantum dots (QDs) tethered to superparamagnetic iron oxide (SPIO) nanoparticles was developed. The surface modification of QDs and SPIO particles and incorporation of dual QDs within the SPIO were characterized by dynamic light scattering (DLS), quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) analysis and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The optical contrasting properties of HINP were characterized by absorption and photoluminescence spectroscopy and fluorescence imaging.
