Introduction: We sought to streamline cataract surgery post-operative care when COVID-19 hit by discontinuing the 1-day post-operative visit. We wanted to know if this change was safe and beneficial to our patients by reducing patients' time and transportation burden, opening appointment slots allowing providers to see more patients and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. By minimising intraoperative use of dispersive viscoelastic, increasing irrigation/aspiration time at the end of the surgery and using intraocular pressure (IOP) lowering medications such as carbachol, brimonidine and acetazolamide routinely, we posit that post-operative day 1 IOP spikes can be avoided, thereby eliminating the need for the 1st post-operative day visit.

A challenge for human immune system (HIS) mouse models has been the lack of human red blood cell (hRBC) survival after engraftment of these immune-deficient mice with human CD34+ hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs). Background: Snakebite envenoming (SBE) is a potentially life-threatening event that can lead to severe physical, mental, and economic hardships, particularly in under-resourced regions like sub-Saharan Africa. In Rwanda, there have been no epidemiological assessments of SBE to guide the Ministry of Health in its efforts to reduce the burden. This study had two main objectives: first, to estimate the incidence of snakebites across districts, and second, to describe formal versus informal healthcare seeking behaviors among snakebite victims in Eastern Province, Rwanda in 2020.

Introduction: Evolving trends in medical education and modern curricular changes have reduced the amount of time and resources allocated for anatomy education. As the amount of dedicated anatomy education time decreases, more self-directed learning is required. Cadaveric dissection and didactic teaching have been supplemented with multimedia, clinical anatomy, and imaging for over 20 years, with mixed results.

The increase in global water insecurity is one of the first perceivable effects of climate change. Two billion people are now without access to safe drinking water, and four billion experience water stress at least once a year, primarily in low per-capita emission countries. This nexus between climate change and water insecurity has significant implications for the global economy, with the water sector contributing 10% of global emissions.

Serial and parallel organ-at-risk-specific noncoplanar arc optimization for small versus large target volumes in liver SBRT.

Noncoplanar arc optimization has been shown to reduce OAR doses in SRS/SRT and has the potential to reduce doses to OARs in SBRT. Extracranial targets have additional considerations, including large OARs and, in the case of the liver, volume constraints on the healthy liver. Considering pathlengths through OARs that encompass target volumes may lead to specific dose reductions as in the encompassing healthy liver tissue.
