Implementing IPE in a Workplace Setting: Educational Design Research Promotes Transformative Participation.

Background: Educators struggle to implement Interprofessional Education (IPE) in workplace settings. We adopted an educational design research (EDR) approach to implement an IPE activity and establish design principles supporting IPE implementation in workplace settings.

Method: We adopted an iterative process of analysis/exploration, design/construction and evaluation/reflection.

A multicenter cohort study analysing the implementation of a new guideline for women with pregnancy of unknown location or ectopic pregnancy in the Netherlands.

Aim: To provide an evidence-informed program theory (PT) for Interprofessional Education (IPE) that adds to the knowledge base of how IPE in undergraduate health sciences education works.

Methods: We undertook a realist review of the literature and synthesis of the evidence combined with stakeholder experience. Our initial program theory (IPT), built around development, delivery and evaluation of IPE interventions, was tested and refined following an in-depth search of the literature and consultation with stakeholders.

International Health Electives: defining learning outcomes for a unique experience.

Background: An International Health Elective (IHE) can be a unique learning experience for students. However, it has proven difficult to clearly define learning outcomes that capture the complexity of an IHE and are aligned with future professional performance. This study aimed to further define learning outcomes for IHEs in low- to middle-income countries (LMIC) from a student perspective.

Junior doctors' experiences with interprofessional collaboration: Wandering the landscape.

Context: The transition from medical student to junior doctor is challenging. Junior doctors need to become part of the physician community of practice (CoP), while dealing with new responsibilities, tasks and expectations. At the same time, they need to learn how to navigate the frontiers and intersections with the other communities of practice that form the Landscape of Practice (LoP).

L1CAM expression in uterine carcinosarcoma is limited to the epithelial component and may be involved in epithelial-mesenchymal transition.

Uterine carcinosarcoma (UCS) has been proposed as a model for epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), a process characterized by a functional change facilitating migration and metastasis in many types of cancer. L1CAM is an adhesion molecule that has been involved in EMT as a marker for mesenchymal phenotype. We examined expression of L1CAM in UCS in a cohort of 90 cases from four different centers.

Lymphadenectomy and Adjuvant Therapy Improve Survival with Uterine Carcinosarcoma: A Large Retrospective Cohort Study.

Objective: Uterine carcinosarcoma is a rare, aggressive subtype of endometrial cancer. Treatment consists of hysterectomy, bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy, and lymphadenectomy (LND). The survival benefit of LND in relation to adjuvant radio- and/or chemotherapy is unclear.

The prognostic benefit of tumour-infiltrating Natural Killer cells in endometrial cancer is dependent on concurrent overexpression of Human Leucocyte Antigen-E in the tumour microenvironment.

Background: Human Leucocyte Antigen- E (HLA-E) has been reported as both a positive and negative prognostic marker in cancer. This apparent discrepancy may be due to opposing actions of HLA-E on tumour-infiltrating immune cells. Therefore, we evaluated HLA-E expression and survival in relation to the presence of intratumoural natural killer (NK) cells and cytotoxic T cells (CTLs).

Patients' attitude towards residents' participation during gynaecological surgery.

Study Design: An observational survey study was performed between July and February 2007-2008 in an outpatient clinic of a department of obstetrics and gynaecology of a teaching hospital. Patients planned for gynaecological surgery were concerned eligible.
