[Cancer-related fatigue: How (good) is the quality of care at cancer care facilities in Germany?].

Background: One of the most common sequelae of cancer and/or its treatment is cancer-related fatigue (CRF). For those affected, CRF is often accompanied by considerable, even long-term impairment. This makes it all the more important to examine how care is provided in Germany and to what extent guideline recommendations are implemented in clinical practice.

Nursing staff and supervisors perceptions on stress and resilience: a qualitative study.

Background: Supervisor-subordinate relationship is high relevant in dealing with work-related stress and providing a compassionate, high-quality, and safe nursing care while meeting the needs of the hospital. Our aim was to assess the predisposing risk and resilience factors of the stress of nursing staff as well as to explore the common and distinctive perceptions of these factors between nurses without a managerial position (nursing staff) and employees in a supervising position (nurse managers, ward nurses).

Design: Generic qualitative study using half-standardized interviews.

"If that would have lessened my symptoms, that would have been great...": a qualitative study about the acceptability of tecovirimat as treatment for mpox.

Background: Tecovirimat, an antiviral treatment for smallpox, was approved as a treatment for mpox by the European Medicines Agency in January 2022. Approval was granted under "exceptional circumstances" based on effectiveness found in pre-clinical challenge studies in animals and safety studies in humans showing minimal side effects. As clinical efficacy studies are still ongoing, there is currently limited information with regard to the acceptability of tecovirimat to treat mpox.

[Resilience as an integral component of action competence in internal medicine].

Physicians in internal medicine are exposed to high levels of stress. Conditions of chronic emotional fatigue and burnout are widespread. Resilience, the ability to cope with difficult situations and to adapt to adverse circumstances, is essential.

Screening for anxiety in patients with cancer: Diagnostic accuracy of GAD-7 items considering lowered GAD-7 cut-offs.

Background: A standard questionnaire for generalized anxiety disorders is the GAD-7. Attempts to improve its screening capacity in oncological settings resulted in a discussion about lowering its cut-off. This study examines the diagnostic accuracy of the GAD-7 items depending on applied cut-offs and whether, similar to depressive symptoms, a distinction between somatic-emotional and cognitive items might be relevant.

Neuropsychiatric manifestations following chimeric antigen receptor T cell therapy for cancer: a systematic review of clinical outcomes and management strategies.

Background: Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T cell therapy has emerged as a transformative modality in the treatment of patients with cancer. However, it is increasingly evident that this therapeutic approach is not without its challenges. The unique nature of CAR-T cells as living drugs introduces a distinct set of side effects.

Physicians' perspectives on cancer-related fatigue management and their suggestions for improvements in medical training: a cross-sectional survey study in Germany.

Purpose: Contrary to guidelines, many cancer patients are not screened for cancer-related fatigue (CRF) and do not receive information or adequate treatment. As physicians play a key role in cancer therapy, their knowledge of this common sequela and perspectives on its management are of major interest.

Methods: For an online survey, physicians working in oncology in Germany were systematically drawn from registers and invited by using institutional newsletters or colleagues.

An estimate of burnout prevalence among oncology nurses.

Background: Registered nurses (RNs) in oncology must cope with the suffering of patients, the inevitability of death and their own transience. This poses a possible risk for the development of burnout, which can result in low job satisfaction and ultimately an increased intention to leave the job. Our aim was to assess psychological distress in registered nurses working in oncology.

Introduction: Echocardiography is a pivotal exam in critically ill patients, a specific training is crucial. Medical residents often lack echocardiography practice.

Aim: This study aims to evaluate the impact of simulation-based training on medical residents' echocardiography mastery.

Prevention of sexual transmission of mpox: a systematic review and qualitative evidence synthesis of approaches.

Background: The ongoing multi-country mpox outbreak in previously unaffected countries is primarily affecting sexual networks of men who have sex with men. Evidence is needed on the effectiveness of recommended preventive interventions. To inform WHO guidelines, a systematic review and qualitative evidence synthesis were conducted on mpox preventive behavioural interventions to reduce: (i) sexual acquisition; (ii) onward sexual transmission from confirmed/probable cases; and (iii) utility of asymptomatic testing.

World Health Organization Enhanced Gonococcal Antimicrobial Surveillance Programme, Cambodia, 2023.

To determine antimicrobial susceptibility of Neisseria gonorrhoeae, we analyzed phenotypes and genomes of 72 isolates collected in Cambodia in 2023. Of those, 9/72 (12.5%) were extensively drug resistant, a 3-fold increase from 2022.

[ORPHYS - Treatment Manual for a Short-Term Psychodynamic Psychotherapy in Patients with Serious Physical Illness].

The diagnosis of a life-threatening illness may lead to a breakdown of psychological processing patterns and a reactualization of existential conflicts. The sudden loss of continuity, physical integrity and social roles can overwhelm patients' ability to cope psychologically. Psychosocial and medical care is likely compromised if patients suffer from affective disorders or symptoms of existential distress.

Critical care ultrasound among Tunisian intensive care residents: A Cross-sectional Survey.

Introduction: Critical Care ultrasound (CCUS) is more and more used in Tunisian critical care units. An objective assessment of this training has not yet been performed.

Aim: To assess the theoretical and practical knowledge about CCUS among Intensive Care Unit (ICU) residents.

The WERA cancer center matrix: Strategic management of patient access to precision oncology in a large and mostly rural area of Germany.

Purpose: Providing patient access to precision oncology (PO) is a major challenge of clinical oncologists. Here, we provide an easily transferable model from strategic management science to assess the outreach of a cancer center.

Methods: As members of the German WERA alliance, the cancer centers in Würzburg, Erlangen, Regensburg and Augsburg merged care data regarding their geographical impact.

Electronic health intervention to manage symptoms of immunotherapy in patients with cancer (SOFIA): Results from a randomized controlled pilot trial.

Background: For patients receiving immune checkpoint inhibitors, early detection of immune-related adverse events (irAEs) is critical for one's safety. To this end, a smartphone app (SOFIA) was developed that featured the assessment of electronic patient-reported outcomes (ePROs) focusing on irAEs as well as a set of comprehensive supportive information. Its feasibility and preliminary efficacy were evaluated in a randomized controlled trial (RCT).

Health-related quality of life and fear of progression in individuals with Li-Fraumeni syndrome.

Li-Fraumeni syndrome (LFS) is a rare autosomal dominant cancer predisposition syndrome associated with a highly elevated lifetime cancer risk. This and the recommended intense surveillance program represent a large psychological burden on families. In order to develop targeted psychosocial interventions, we conducted a needs assessment.

The impact of divergent forms of social support on health-related quality of life in patients with multiple myeloma and its precursor states.

Purpose: Multiple myeloma is a largely incurable disease. Patients suffer from the cancer, therapeutic side effects, and often psychological symptoms. Not only multiple myeloma patients but also patients with precursor diseases show high psychological distress.

Patient-physician communication about cancer-related fatigue: a survey of patient-perceived barriers.

Purpose: Cancer-related fatigue is a subjective, distressing, and common sequela of cancer which is often disregarded and underdiagnosed. Fatigue is assessed by self-report requiring communication between patient and physician. In this study, we investigated the patients' perspective on the patient-physician communication about fatigue.

Cancer-related fatigue: Quality, credibility, usability, and readability of information on websites of health care institutions in Germany.

Objectives: This study aimed to portray available information on cancer-related fatigue on German health care institution websites considering the idea of patient empowerment.

Methods: Based on website quality criteria, we developed a website-rating tool comprising 18 items. Descriptive analyses, a KruskalWallis test, and corresponding post hoc tests comparing rating sum scores between institution groups were performed.
