Pyoderma gangrenosum of the hand.

Pyoderma gangrenosum is a rare, painful, ulcerative neutrophilic dermatosis that is not usually seen on the hands. Pyoderma gangrenosum is a diagnosis of exclusion, as there are no specific laboratory or histopathologic findings to confirm the diagnosis. Heightened awareness and early recognition are needed to decrease morbidity in these patients.

A 55-year-old man presented with a painless destruction of multiple joints and neurologic deficits. He was admitted with a painless pyogenic arthritis of the right ankle. Four years earlier, he had experienced instability of the right knee after an inexplicable, progressive but painless destruction of the joint.

Objective: To analyze the incidence, associated injuries, treatment outcomes and associated adverse events of isolated transverse process fractures (TPFs) of the subaxial cervical spine in a high-energy blunt trauma population.

Summary Of Background Data: Currently, TPFs of the subaxial cervical spine are considered to be clinically insignificant.
