The effects of Coptis chinensis on the behavior of squamous cell carcinoma have not yet been established. We examined the anticancer activity of Coptis chinensis on human squamous carcinoma cells, both in vitro and in xenografted nude mice, and applied Pathway Array Technology to understand possible involvement of signaling pathways in Coptis Chinensis induced tumor cells inhibition as well. Following Coptis chinensis treatment, a time-dependent reduction in proliferation was observed in both cell lines and NCR/NU mice.

Materials And Methods: We performed a computerized search using combinations of the following keywords: "metastatic colorectal cancer," "Xeloda," "chemotherapy," "capecitabine," or "5-fluorouracil.
Objective: To compare the differences between glycosylated and non-glycosylated granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) on mobilizing cell regeneration of bone marrow stem cells and repairing injured myocardium.
Methods: In the acute myocardial ischemia model, 40 Sprague-Dawley rats (8 weeks old, weight 200-250 g) were successfully established with isoproteronol (ISO) and randomly and evenly divided into 4 groups: Group G (injected with glycosylated G-CSF), Group N (non-glycosylated G-CSF), Group C ([control] normal saline for 7 days), and Group M (model). At day 5, all rats were labeled with bromodeoxyuridine (BrdU).
Blast-induced traumatic brain injury (TBI) has been the predominant cause of neurotrauma in current military conflicts, and it is also emerging as a potential threat in civilian terrorism. The etiology of TBI, however, is poorly understood. Further study on the mechanisms and treatment of blast injury is urgently needed.

However, the relationship between Abeta and Cu(II) is not clear. Furthermore, the pro- or anti-oxidant properties of Abeta are also under great debate.

Regulation of qi must be implemented on the premise of that the conditions of channels-collaterals and acupoints are clearly distinguished, and only through slight changes of qi after the needle is inserted can we perceive their functional state such as deficiency and excess, cold and heat, etc. The core of these series of manipulation can be represented by promoting flowing of qi, arrival of gi, keeping qi, differentiation of qi and regulating qi.

Method: 27 spontaneous hypertensive rats (SHRs) were randomly divided into 3 groups (n=9). Effect of AngI-R on systolic blood pressure of SHRs was determined by its subcutaneous injection into SHRs with anti-angiotensin peptide AngI-R, captopril, physiological salt solution in the same schedule.

Through the hydraulic lubrication oil spectrometric analysis, we monitored the state of the power-shift steering transmission (PSST) equipped on the track armored vehicle for a long time. Combined with the friction material analysis inside the PSST, based on the concentration analysis of the wear and tear particle inside the oil, the authors estimated the wear and tear state of the PSST and judged if the PSST had the fault hidden trouble. So we can avoid the serious fault, provide the academic and actual basis for RCM and enhance the dependability for the track armored vehicle.

MELA prolonged sleep time and reduced sleep latency induced by pentobarbital similar to muscimol, a GABAA receptors agonist. MELA also increased sleep rate and sleep time in the combined administration with pentobarbital at the sub-hypnotic dosage and showed synergic effects with muscimol in potentiating sleep onset and enhancing sleep time induced by pentobarbital.

Sanjoinine A (2.0 mg/kg) increased the percentage of time spent on the open arms and the number of open arms entries in the elevated plus-maze test, increased the number of head dips in the hole-board test, and increased the percentage of time spent in the center zone and the center zone locomotor distance in the open field box experiment.

We do not know whether non-permissive or low-permissive cell lines could become permissive or more permissive to virus infection after over-high passage. In the present studies, the alteration of the permissiveness of Spodoptera litura cell line Sl-zsu-1 to three baculovirus infection was investigated after over-high passage, and the possible mechanisms are also investigated.

Sanjoinine A is a component of the alkaloid fraction of Zizyphi Spinosi Semen. This experiment was performed to investigate whether sanjoinine A acts as an anticonvulsive in the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA)-induced experimental seizure model. We also examined whether it protects against seizure-form electroencephalogram (EEG) alterations induced by NMDA in vivo and/or cell killing due to NMDA in cultured cerebellar granule cells.

Four sets of Y-maze experiments were carried out in mice, with 2 and 4 h inter-trial intervals (ITI) and all drugs administered immediately after the training trials. In the first and second sets of experiments, post-training administration of morphine (0.

Due to the presence of artifacts induced by fast-imaging acquisition in functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) studies, it is very difficult to estimate the variance of thermal noise by traditional methods in magnitude images. Moreover, the existence of incidental phase fluctuations impairs the validity of currently available solutions based on complex datasets. In this article, a time-domain model is proposed to generalize the analysis of complex datasets for nonbrain regions by incorporating artifacts and phase fluctuations.

The results showed that, in general, female HDPs demonstrated greater performance deficits in map-following and map-picture-memory tasks than did other participants. In the map-picture-following tasks, participants showed a preference for turning right versus turning left, reflected by lower correct scores and longer latencies in completing left-oriented tasks.

This results in the disappearance of unstable {110} facets and the formation of rectangularly shaped Pd/Au bimetallic nanorods that show only four stable {100} side surfaces. The energy minimization to a more stable morphology is believed to be the driving force for the formation of the rectangular shape of the Pd shell.
