A flexible cotton-based Ag/AgPO/MXene (APMX) ternary composite material was successfully synthesized, serving as a dual-function and reusable surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrate for both sensitive detection and efficient organic dye degradation. The remarkable SERS properties of the composite can be attributed to the combined effects of electromagnetic enhancement by Ag nanoparticles (Ag NPs), charge transfer enhancement from AgPO, and the chemical enhancement mechanisms associated with MXene. When employed for the detection of crystal violet (CV), the material exhibits outstanding sensitivity, achieving a limit of detection (LOD) as low as 3.

Canids act as a crucial intermediary in the transmission of rabies and , serving as co-infection hosts and pathogen carriers for both rabies and hydatid disease (HD) transmitted from animals to humans. Therefore, an effective and efficient bivalent oral vaccine for preventing HD and rabies is urgently required to reduce economic losses in husbandry resulting from rabies and HD. In this study, a full-length plasmid (pcDNA4-NPM+G+EgM123+eGFP+L) carrying the gene and fluorescence reporter genes of eGFP and four auxiliary transfection plasmids of rabies virus SRV (pcDNA4-N, pcDNA4-P, pcDNA4-G, pcDNA-L) were established by reverse genetics approaches and co-transfected to BSR cells by electrotransfection.

Overexpression of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and thioredoxin reductase (TrxR) are commonly associated with an adverse prognosis in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). This makes them key targets for the treatment of HCC. Studies have shown that the clinical efficacy of the EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor gefitinib alone in treating HCC is limited.

Placental development is a multifaceted process critical for a fruitful pregnancy, reinforced by a complex network of molecular pathways that synchronize trophoblast migration, differentiation, and overall placental function. This review provides an in-depth analysis of the key signaling pathways, such as Wnt, Notch, TGF-β, and VEGF, which play fundamental roles in trophoblast proliferation, invasion, and the complicated process of placental vascular development. For instance, the Wnt signaling pathway is essential to balance trophoblast stem cell proliferation and differentiation, while Notch signaling stimulates cell fate decisions and invasive behavior.

Ion-selective membranes serve as key materials for reverse electrodialysis (RED) technology in osmotic energy harvesting, and the search for a class of membranes that are economical, highly robust, and sustainable has been a relentless goal for researchers. In this work, all-natural biomass membranes (reed membranes) are often used as a flute diaphragm, which makes the flute produce a brighter and crisper sound, presenting high strength and elasticity. Ultrathin natural reed membranes (thickness of ≈4.

Inducing differentiation of leukemia cells into dendritic cells (DC) is pivotal to reshaping the immunosuppressive microenvironment. Here, we report the synthesis of , an erlotinib-gold(I) complex, which directly prompts the differentiation of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) cells into DCs. A patient-derived xenograft (PDX) model underscores the potent anti-AML activity of .

Article Synopsis
  • The polypropylene (PP) separator in lithium-ion batteries is prone to thermal runaway, which limits its use in devices like electric vehicles and energy storage systems.
  • Researchers discovered that applying hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) on the PP separator allows it to form a chiral nematic liquid crystal phase, enhancing battery safety by improving temperature distribution during operation.
  • The new HPMC-coated separator not only prevents thermal runaway during extreme testing but also demonstrates excellent cycling stability, allowing batteries to function effectively for over 1000 cycles, indicating a promising direction for future lithium-ion battery research.

One of the hallmarks of cancer is high levels of DNA replication stress and defects in the DNA damage response (DDR) pathways, which are critical for maintaining genomic integrity. Ataxia telangiectasia and Rad3-related protein (ATR) is a key regulator of the DDR machinery and an attractive therapeutic target, with multiple ATR inhibitors holding significant promise in ongoing clinical studies. Herein, we describe the discovery and characterization of ART0380 (), a potent and selective ATR inhibitor with a compelling in vitro and in vivo pharmacological profile currently undergoing Phase 2 clinical studies in patients with advanced or metastatic solid tumors as monotherapy and in combination with DNA-damaging agents (NCT04657068 and NCT05798611).

  • Previous research identified three types of multi-component mixtures based on hormesis concentration-response curves and toxicity analysis methods.
  • This study assessed the acute and long-term toxicity of six pollutants and 12 mixtures using microplate toxicity analyses, exploring the relationship between variance and effect ratios.
  • Findings showed that acute toxicity types were consistent across short-duration and long-term exposure, indicating that chronic toxicity predictions can be based on acute toxicity results for multi-component mixtures.

  • - Prostate cancer is a major health issue for men, highlighting the need for improved detection and treatment options, with HSP90AB1 and PARP1 identified as potential targets.
  • - The study showed that reducing HSP90AB1 levels made prostate cancer cells more sensitive to the PARP inhibitor olaparib, and combining olaparib with celastrol (an HSP90 inhibitor) led to significantly decreased cell survival and enhanced DNA damage.
  • - Findings suggest that the concurrent targeting of HSP90AB1 and PARP1, particularly through the combination of celastrol and olaparib, could be an effective new strategy for treating prostate cancer.

To determine the synergistic effect and mechanism of AO/854, a new Bloom syndrome protein (BLM) helicase inhibitor, and cisplatin (CDDP), a DNA-crosslinking agent, cell viability assays, neutral comet assays, and Western blotting (WB) were performed on prostate cancer (PCa) cells. According to our findings, combining AO/854 and CDDP enhanced the antiproliferative capabilities of PC3 cell lines. As evidenced by the upregulation of γH2AX, cleaved caspase-3/caspase-3, and BAX/Bcl-2, AO/854 dramatically increased PC3 apoptosis and DNA damage induced by CDDP.

Kinship testing, which involves genotyping genetic markers and comparing their profiles between individuals, holds significant applications in forensic science. However, the prevalent use of independent markers often lacks the discriminatory power to distinguish pedigrees belong to the same kinship class. While numerous studies have attempted to address this challenge through diverse approaches, the testing efficacy of high-density SNP microarrays in combination with the likelihood approach remains unclear.
