Developing smart materials with tunable high-temperature afterglow (HTA) luminescence remains a formidable challenge. This study presents a metal-free doping system using boric acid as matrix and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons as dopants. This composition achieves dynamically tunable afterglow combining a bright blue HTA lasting for over ten seconds even at 150 °C and an ultra-long yellow room-temperature phosphorescence below 110 °C.

Under hypoxic conditions in tumor cells, HIF-1α is unable to bind to VHL E3 ligase due to the blocked hydroxylation reaction, resulting in impaired degradation and intracellular accumulation. Mounting evidences show a close association between HIF-1α overexpression and drug resistance, treatment failure, and increased mortality. To address HIF-1α overexpression, we innovatively introduced an E3 ligase ligand to the HIF-1α inhibitor IDF-11774 using the PROTACs strategy, aiming to reactivate the degradative pathway impeded under hypoxia, and thereby achieve the degradation of HIF-1α protein under hypoxia.

A d-Cd cluster containing sandwich-type arsenotungstate [CHN][CdCl(B--AsWO)] was synthesized and its structure characterized through elemental analyses, X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD), IR spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The X-ray analysis revealed that the molecular unit of the compound consists of a captivating tetra-Cd-substituted sandwich-type polyoxoanion, accompanied by six elegantly protonated 1,2-diaminopropane as counter ions. The further novelty of the tetranuclear cadmium cluster lies in its occupied chlorine atom sites.
