Diseases caused by pathogenic microorganisms impair plant growth, leading to reduced crop yields. While the molecular mechanisms of plant disease response are well understood in annual herbaceous species, they remain largely unknown in perennial woody plants. Here, we found that PtoPHL3, a key transcription factor in poplar's phosphorus starvation response, showed significant expression changes after treatments with salicylic acid (SA) and methyl jasmonate (MeJA), and inoculation of Dothiorella gregaria that causes poplar canker disease.

Patients with femoral fractures are typically advised to undergo partial weight-bearing (PWB) gait training during the postoperative rehabilitation period to facilitate bone healing and restore lower limb function. Various current portable biofeedback devices monitor ground reaction force (GRF) to assess the femoral loading of patients with fractures during PWB walking. However, due to the influence of muscle forces and the complexity of load transmission in the lower limbs, GRF may not accurately reflect the internal forces in the femur during walking.

A novel tungsten-based heterojunction nanocomposite material was developed for the efficient oxidative desulfurization (ODS) of fuel oil, enabling the production of low-sulfur fuel and a reduction in harmful SO emissions. In this material, the WC/WC heterojunction was uniformly immobilized on a porous nitrogen-doped carbon (NC) matrix structure through facile in situ pyrolysis of polyaniline-phosphotungstic acid (PANI/PTA) precursors. The resultant WC/WC@NC catalyst demonstrated remarkable desulfurization performance, achieving 100% removal of 4000 ppm dibenzothiophene (DBT) in just 15 min at 60 °C in the presence of 0.

Organic, polymeric, and inorganic nanomaterials with radially diverging dendritic segments are known for their optical, physical, chemical, and biological properties inaccessible for traditional spheroidal particles. However, a methodology to quantitatively link their complex architecture to measurable properties is difficult due to the characteristically large degree of disorder, which is essential for observed property sets. Here, we address this conceptual problem using dendrimer-shaped gold particles with distinct stochastic branching and intense chiroptical activity using graph theory (GT).

Tailored surgical strategies for anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction in skeletally immature patients are presented, emphasizing techniques to minimize growth plate damage and ensure stability. As ACL injuries in youth increase, delaying surgery can lead to joint damage and poor recovery outcomes. Using magnetic resonance imaging-based assessments of skeletal maturity, the authors propose the 'over-the-top (OTT)' approach with lateral tenodesis, adapted for three growth stages: prepubescents, young adolescents and older adolescents.
