Endometrial cancer (EC) is generally considered as a disease that affects older women. We attempt to explore the role of actin‑like protein 8 (ACTL8) in EC and how it achieves its function. Based on the data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), we found that ACTL8 expression was up-regulated in EC tissues and correlated with shorter overall survival of EC patients.

Extrarenal Wilms' Tumors (ERWTs) are rare. There have been only 25 cases of ERWT arising from the female genital system reported in the literature. In this paper, we report a 60-year-old woman with a complaint of vaginal bleeding and a polypoid mass in the uterine cavity by sonography that was demonstrated as ERWT by pathology after resection.

Fibulin-4, a member of the fibulin family of extracellular glycoproteins, is implicated in the progression of a number of types of cancer. However, the function of fibulin-4 in cervical cancer progression remains unexplored. Fibulin-4 mRNA and protein expression levels in normal cervical tissue, cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN), cervical carcinoma, highly invasive subclones and low-invasive subclones were evaluated by real-time reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction and immunohistochemistry.

Objectives: To detect vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)-C mRNA expression in surgically resected tissues of 'pathologic N0' (pN0) cervical cancer; to investigate the relevance of VEGF-C mRNA expression to clinicopathological factors, lymph node recurrence and prognosis in early stage cervical cancer.

Methods: Patients with pN0 cervical cancer who successfully underwent radical hysterectomy with bilateral adnexectomy and bilateral pelvic lymphadenectomy were enrolled sequentially into this retrospective study. Reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) was performed to detect VEGF-C mRNA.

Aim:  The aim of this study was to specifically investigate the clinicopathological role of expression of vascular endothelial growth factor C (VEGF-C) as well as the correlation with clinical outcomes in cervical cancer.

Method: We carried out a comparative analysis of data from a prospective observational study of 82 patients with cervical carcinomas who underwent radical hysterectomy with bilateral adnexectomy and bilateral pelvic lymphadenectomy from January 2001 to January 2005.

Results: VEGF-C mRNA was identified in tumor tissues from 42 patients.
