Methods: Mothers with singleton births in the Taiwan Birth Cohort Study were assessed for shift work, GWG, and PPWR. Propensity score matching balanced baseline characteristics.
Certain environmental toxins and chemotherapeutics are nucleic acid-damaging agents, causing adducts in DNA and RNA. While most of these adducts occur in RNA, the consequences of RNA damage are largely unexplored. Here, we demonstrate that nuclear RNA damage can result in loss of genome integrity in human cells.

The proposed device contains a bi-grating QPM period for downconversion, followed by mono- or tri-grating QPM periods for upconversion on periodically poled lithium tantalate. The pairs of infrared dual-OPO beams are found to spatially reside at the opposite sidelobes of the cavity mode, each exhibiting distinct spectral contents corresponding to the pair of (signal, idler) waves oscillating at (979, 1167) nm and (964, 1189) nm, respectively.

Methods: During 2013-2019, we recruited patients with oral precancer (n = 1998) or invasive oral cancer (n = 768) and hospital-based controls (n = 717). Precancer patients were followed up biannually for up to five years; questionnaire data and biospecimens were collected at multiple timepoints.
Objective: This study aims to investigate the differences in pathogenic bacterial spectra between patients with deep neck infection (DNI) with and without liver cirrhosis (LC). The goal is to identify specific pathogens prevalent in LC-DNI to guide the selection of empiric antibiotics, improving treatment outcomes and prognosis.

Background: With growing evidence linking lipid profile changes to tumor development and cancer prognosis, we investigated the prognostic significance of preoperative serum total cholesterol (TC) levels in patients with oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) undergoing surgical treatment.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective observational study involving 310 patients with primary OSCC who received surgery at our hospital from January 2009 to December 2018. Receiver operating characteristic curve analysis was performed to determine the optimal preoperative TC cutoff value, with the Youden Index employed as the optimization criterion to maximize the sum of sensitivity and specificity.

Study Design: Population-based cohort study.
Background: This study was designed to evaluate the diagnostic efficacy of the minimum fascia-tumour distance (MFTD) in distinguishing deep-lobe benign parotid tumours from superficial-lobe tumours through both an original study and a meta-analysis.
Methods: In this study, we performed a retrospective analysis of data from 91 patients who had been diagnosed with benign parotid tumours. The MFTD values were sourced from preoperative ultrasound examinations.
Background: Established protocols for implementing high-quality targeted temperature management (TTM) provide guidance concerning the cooling rate, duration of maintenance, and rewarming speed. Shift work is a prevalent workplace exposure, which increases the possibility of unhealthy behaviours and circadian rhythm disruptions and elevates the risk of metabolic diseases and adverse reproductive outcomes.
