Indications for and implications of germline genetic testing (GGT) in patients with prostate cancer have expanded over the past decade, particularly related to precision therapies and management. GGT has become the standard of care for many cancers such as breast, ovarian, colorectal, pancreatic, and metastatic prostate cancer, and it is imperative that patients be offered timely and equitable access to testing as it can inform patient-physician shared decision making for management of the current cancer as well as anticipatory guidance for disease progression. Additionally, GGT guides screening for and prevention of secondary malignancies for the patient and cascade testing for at-risk family members.

We present a protocol for single-molecule fluorescent in situ hybridization (smFISH) in whole-mount mouse retinas enabling the detection of individual mRNAs in vascular endothelial cells. We describe procedures from initial retina preparation to smFISH and detection.

Regionalisation of molecular mechanisms allows cells to fine-tune their responses to dynamic environments. In this context, scaffolds are well-known mediators of localised protein activity. These phenomenal proteins act as docking sites where pathway components are brought together to ensure efficient and reliable flow of information within the cell.

This retrospective cohort study describes the frequency of use and explores the characteristics of utilization of pEEG monitoring by anesthesia professionals during the administration of general anesthesia in the adult patient population at a large academic medical center. Descriptive associations with pEEG monitoring were confirmed in both univariate and multivariable analyses with multiple patient, anesthetic, and surgical characteristics.

However, its specific hormonal actions remain unclear. This study aimed to determine whether diet-enhanced serum LRG1 levels promote hyperinsulinaemia by directly stimulating insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells.

Cadmium (Cd) is a toxic environmental metal that occurs naturally in food and drinking water. Cd is of increasing concern to human health due to its association with age-related diseases and long biological half-life. Previous studies show that low-dose Cd exposure via drinking water induces mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1) signaling in mice; however, the role of mTORC1 pathway in Cd-induced pro-fibrotic responses has not been established.

During the intermediate phase of metastasis, tumor cells detach from primary tumor or metastatic sites and travel through the bloodstream and lymphatic system to distant tissues. These tumor cells in the circulation are known as circulating tumor cells (CTCs), and a higher number of CTCs has been linked to poor prognoses in various cancers.

Histological features and genetic risk factors, among other evidence, supported the amyloid hypothesis of the disease. This neuronocentric paradigm is currently undergoing a shift, considering evidence of the role of other cell types, such as microglia and astrocytes, in disease progression.

Mechanical manipulation of the neuroma during surgery can elicit a characteristic "startle sign", which can help guide surgical management. However, it is unknown how anesthetic management affects detection of the startle sign.

Methods: Patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and brain metastases were identified in our departmental database. Electronic medical records were used to identify patients for whom liquid biopsy-based comprehensive genomic profiling (Guardant Health) was available.
Context: Lead exposures among school-age children are a major public health issue. Although the harmful effects of lead exposure during the first years of life are well known, there is not as much understanding of the effects of low levels of lead exposure during later childhood.
Objectives: To review the effects of blood lead levels (BLLs) <10 µg/dL in school-age children and adolescents.
Background And Objective: The phase 3 MAGNITUDE trial assessed the efficacy and safety of niraparib 200 mg and abiraterone acetate 1000 mg plus prednisone 10 mg (AAP) in patients with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) and alterations in homologous recombination repair (HRR) genes. Here we report final analysis results for patient-reported outcomes (PROs) in the HRR cohort with a focus on BRCA1/2 alterations (BRCA).
Methods: Protocol-specified endpoints evaluated patient-reported symptoms, health-related quality of life (HRQoL), and tolerability (side-effect bother) using the Brief Pain Inventory-Short Form (BPI-SF), Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Prostate (FACT-P), and EQ-5D-5L questionnaires.
Treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) has drastically changed in recent years owing to the robust anticancer effects of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI). However, only 20% of the patients with NSCLC benefit from ICIs, highlighting the need to uncover the mechanisms mediating resistance. By analyzing the overall survival (OS) and mutational profiles of 424 patients with NSCLC who received ICI treatments between 2015 and 2021, we determined that patients carrying a loss-of-function mutation in neurotrophic tyrosine kinase receptor 1 (NTRK1) had a prolonged OS when compared with patients with wild-type NTRK1.

The TITAN study included 1052 participants with metastatic castration-sensitive prostate cancer (or mCSPC).

Bilirubin is an endogenous antioxidant abundant in the liver that may serve as a physiological modulator of oxidative stress in pregnant people. Hence, our objective was to estimate the association between repeated measures of PFAS and bilirubin during pregnancy.

Sophisticated brains and specialized feeding appendages, which are elaborations of serially repeated organ systems and jointed appendages, underpin the dominance of Euarthropoda in a broad suite of ecological settings. The origin of the euarthropod body plan from a grade of vermiform taxa with hydrostatic lobopodous appendages ('lobopodian worms') is founded on data from Burgess Shale-type fossils.
