A UF tubular membrane 150 kDa, with an internal diameter of 5 mm, proved appropriate for initial extract clarification, whereas afterwards a UF 10 kDa and three NF membranes (200-800 Da) in sequence were evaluated for the subsequent fractionation of this tomato extract.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe C2 carbon-concentrating mechanism increases net CO2 assimilation by shuttling photorespiratory CO2 in the form of glycine from mesophyll to bundle sheath cells, where CO2 concentrates and can be re-assimilated. This glycine shuttle also releases NH3 and serine into the bundle sheath, and modelling studies suggest that this influx of NH3 may cause a nitrogen imbalance between the two cell types that selects for the C4 carbon-concentrating mechanism. Here we provide an alternative hypothesis outlining mechanisms by which bundle sheath NH3 and serine play vital roles to not only influence the status of C2 plants along the C3 to C4 evolutionary trajectory, but to also convey stress tolerance to these unique plants.

We compared Definiens Tissue Studio® to pathologist scores for 17 markers measured in breast tumor tissue microarrays (TMAs) [AR, CD20, CD4, CD8, CD163, EPRS, ER, FASN, H3K27, IGF1R, IR, Ki67, phospho-mTOR, PR, PTEN, RXR, and VDR].
Methods: 5 914 Nurses' Health Study participants, diagnosed 1976-2006 (NHS) and 1989-2006 (NHS-II), were included.
Background: Previous researchers have suggested that balance control deficits are detected more accurately with dual-task testing than single-task testing. However, it is necessary to examine the clinimetric properties of dual-task testing before employing it in clinical and research settings.
Objective: To examine and compare the relative and absolute reliability of the Balance Error Scoring System (BESS), Tandem Gait Test (TGT), and Clinical Reaction Time (CRT) under single and dual-task conditions in uninjured active youth and young adults.
Immunohistochemical (IHC) staining in breast cancer shows both gain and loss of COX2 expression with disease risk and progression. We investigated four common COX2 antibody clones and found high specificity for purified human COX2 for three clones; however, recognition of COX2 in cell lysates was clone dependent. Biochemical characterization revealed two distinct forms of COX2, with SP21 recognizing an S-nitrosylated form, and CX229 and CX294 recognizing non-nitrosylated COX2 antigen.

If the cathode material used in a lithium-ion or sodium-ion battery is alkali-rich, this can increase the battery's energy density by storing charge on the oxide and the transition metal ions, rather than on the transition metal alone.
