Introduction: Drug-mediated inhibition of bile salt efflux transporters may cause liver injury. In vitro prediction of drug effects toward canalicular and/or sinusoidal efflux of bile salts from human hepatocytes is therefore a major issue, which can be addressed using liver cell-based assays.

Area Covered: This review, based on a thorough literature search in the scientific databases PubMed and Web of Science, provides key information about hepatic transporters implicated in bile salt efflux, the human liver cell models available for investigating functional inhibition of bile salt efflux, the different methodologies used for this purpose, and the modes of expression of the results.

Brain structure correlates of obsessive-compulsive personality disorder (OCPD) remain poorly understood as limited OCPD assessment has precluded well-powered studies. Here, we tested whether machine learning (ML; elastic net regression, gradient boosting machines, support vector regression with linear and radial kernels) could estimate OCPD scores from personality data and whether ML-predicted scores are associated with indices of brain structure (cortical thickness and surface area and subcortical volumes). Identifying and validating a biomarker with high specificity in early-stage dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) using a feasible method is crucial to enhance the current suboptimal diagnostic procedure. Previous research revealed abnormalities, including hypoperfusion in the right anterior insular cortex at group level, in prodromal DLB. Exploring hypoperfusion of the right anterior insula, at an individual-level and assessing its relevance as a potential imaging biomarker in early DLB, has, to our knowledge, not been investigated.

We report the case of an 88-year-old man recently diagnosed with prostate cancer. The patient underwent a 68 Ga-prostate-specific membrane antigen-11 PET/CT for staging assessment. This examination revealed intense and expected uptake in the primary prostate cancer, widespread metastatic involvement including typical adenopathy and bone metastasis, and a less common pulmonary lymphangitic carcinomatosis.
