This study examined the impact of physical training on cardiac mitochondrial respiration of rats with chronic diabetes mellitus. Diabetes was induced by an intravenous injection of STZ (50 mg/kg) and only rats with a blood glucose level between 14 and 22 mM 1 wk later were kept in the protocol. Exercise training was conducted on a treadmill with a progressive 10-wk program.

Diabetes was induced with streptozocin (50 mg/kg), and exercise training was carried out on a treadmill with a progressive 10-wk program. Plasma glucose levels at the end of the training program showed only a small improvement of the diabetic state in trained animals (21.

Diabetes was induced with streptozotocin (50 mg/kg), and only rats with blood glucose levels between 14 and 22 mmol/L 1 week later were kept in the protocol. Exercise training was performed on a treadmill in a progressive 10-week program.

Benign tumours were induced in the bladder with an incidence of 40%, and hepatomas were detected in the liver in 27% of the cases. The protective effect of soybean and ascorbic acid, added separately to the diet or to the drinking water respectively, was demonstrated by a marked reduction in dysplastic features and absence of tumour in both the liver and the urinary bladder.

The T lymphocytes had characteristics of thymocytes, and cortico medullary differentiation was demonstrated within all tumors, regardless of histologic appearance. Cortical thymocytes were positive with anti-terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase, OKT6, and OKT10, all of which failed to stain medullary thymocytes.
