Contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN) is a renal complication occurring after the administration of iodinated contrast agents routinely used in medical imaging. CIN causes acute renal failure of varying severity. The pathophysiology of CIN is probably multifactorial: it involves (i) renal vasoconstriction inducing tissue hypoxia, and (ii) a possible direct toxicity of iodine derivatives leading to tubular inflammation and necrosis.

Repair of parastomal hernia after Bricker procedure: retrospective consecutive experience of a tertiary center.

Background: Ileal conduit parastomal hernias (ICPHs) are frequent after radical cystectomy with ileal conduit urinary diversion, but their management is debated. This study aimed to review the results of ICPH repair according to Sugarbaker or Sandwich techniques, with special interest in ICPH recurrence and urological complications.

Methods: The authors reviewed a consecutive series of patients undergoing ICPH repair between January 2014 and December 2020.

Unlabelled: The aim of the present study is to describe and measure the cognitive emotion regulation strategies of inpatient adolescents with clinical depression, aged 13-18, and to analyse these coping strategies in relation to different comorbidities of Major Depressive Disorder (MDD).

Methods: There were 112 adolescents with MDD who were admitted to hospital and 78 healthy adolescents included in the study. The Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (CERQ) was used to assess nine specific cognitive coping strategies.

Among developing countries and some health systems in developed regions, the lack of awareness and screening methods for skin cancer creates a high risk of psychological issues associated with more advanced diseases.

Avoiding the Removal of Syndesmotic Screws after Distal Tibiofibular Diastasis Repair: A Benefit or a Drawback?

There is still no general agreement about the most effective form of syndesmosis fixation with syndesmotic screws for patients affected by ankle fractures that are accompanied by syndesmotic injuries. In the same manner, no consensus has been reached yet on whether or not the tibiofibular syndesmotic screw is more beneficial if removed or not, as well as the exact timing of removal if this proves superiority. The purpose of this research was to verify whether or not removing syndesmotic screws reduces the risk of developing a diastasis and compare outcomes in patients whose syndesmotic screw was or was not removed at all.

[CT scan in syncope : diagnostic yield and prescription habits].

Syncope is a frequent reason for emergency department admission. Brain imaging is theoretically not recommended. After exclusion of features orienting towards non-syncopal events, we retrospectively included 206 patients who underwent head CT scans in the University Hospital of Liège for transient loss of consciousness between December 2020 and July 2021.

[Bilateral subdural hematomas due to idiopathic cerebral spinal fluid leak treated by radiologically guided blood patch].

We report a case of cerebral hypotension due to an idiopathic cerebral spinal fluid leak associated with bilateral sub-dural hygromas. The symptoms were not relieved despite of multiple lumbar, thoracic and cervical «blind» blood patches. The check-up led to a scopic controlled cervical blood patch directly on the leak by a paramedian approach with a complete clinical and radiological response to treatment.

Tourism adaptability amid the climate change and air pollution in BRICS: a method of moments quantile regression approach.

The main objective of this paper is to look at how environmental degradation in the form of climate change and air pollution affect international tourism for five countries such as Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa (BRICS) over the years 1990-2019. Other independent variables include information and communication technology (ICT) and democracy. We also look at the role of environmental regulation to see the validity of porter hypothesis in the tourism sector.

The dural vascular plexus in subdural hematoma: Illustration through a case of dural arteriovenous fistula.

Background: The initiation of chronic subdural hematoma (cSDH) is traditionally explained by rupture of bridging veins. Recent descriptions of the embryology and anatomy of the meninges and their vascularization, however, point to the dural vascular plexus (DVP) as a plausible origin of cSDH. This dural plexus is supplied by meningeal arteries.

Treating patients with cancer complicated by severe opportunistic infections is particularly challenging since classical cancer treatments, such as chemotherapy, often induce profound immune suppression and, as a result, may favor infection progression. Little is known about the potential place of immune checkpoint inhibitors in these complex situations. Here, we report a 66-year-old man who was concomitantly diagnosed with non-small cell lung cancer and progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy.

E3 ubiquitin ligases and cerebral cortex development in health and disease.

Cerebral cortex development involves the sequential progression of biological steps driven by molecular pathways whose tight regulation often relies on ubiquitination. Ubiquitination is a posttranslational modification involved in all aspects of cellular homeostasis through the attachment of a ubiquitin (Ub) moiety on proteins. Over the past years, an increasing amount of research has highlighted the crucial role played by Ub ligases in every step of cortical development and whose impairment often leads to various neurodevelopmental disorders.

Mutations in RAB39B gene have been linked to intellectual deficiency associated with parkinsonism, also referred as to Waisman syndrome. As it appears to be a very rare cause of Parkinson Disease (PD), with only few cases described in the literature, the typical clinical and radiological features are yet to be determined. In this article, we report and illustrate multimodal brain imaging by computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, transcranial ultrasound (US), dopamine transporter single photon emission computed tomography and [F]-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography ([F]FDG-PET) in a 37-year-old man with PD features and mild mental retardation harboring a new RAB39B mutation.

First, to demonstrate how companies in the retail sector have been able to develop innovations in their business models through their shops and virtual channels, which generate a positive positioning in the mind of the consumer, capable of minimizing animosity towards them.

Mast Cell Activation During Suspected Perioperative Hypersensitivity: A Need for Paired Samples Analysis.

Background: Perioperative hypersensitivity (POH) reactions constitute a significant clinical and diagnostic challenge. A transient increase in serum tryptase during POH reflects mast cell activation (MCA) and helps to recognize an underlying hypersensitivity mechanism.

Objective: To determine the diagnostic performance of different tryptase decision thresholds based on single and paired measurements to document MCA in suspected POH.
