The asymmetry in the rho angular distribution in the sequential decay Omega+-->LamdaKappa+-->rhopi+Kappa+. has been measured to be alphaOmegaalphaLamda=[+1.16+/-0.

We obtain B(Xi(-)-->pmu(-)mu(-))<4.0x10(-8) at 90% confidence, improving on the best previous limit by 4 orders of magnitude.

Limits on other such processes do not exclude the possibility of observable rates for |DeltaS| = 2 nonleptonic hyperon decays, provided the decays occur through parity-odd operators. We obtain the branching-fraction limits B(Omega(-)-->Lambdapi(-)) < 2.

We find no evidence of CP violation, with the direct-CP-violating parameter AXiLambda identical with (alphaXialphaLambda-alpha Xialpha Lambda)/(alphaXialphaLambda+alphaXialphaLambda)=[0.0+/-5.

By combining the branching ratios for the decays K+-->pi(+)mu(+)mu(-) and K--->pi(-)mu(+)mu(-), we measure Gamma(K+/--->pi(+/-)mu(+)mu(-))/Gamma(K+/--->all) = (9.8+/-1.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA search for direct CP violation in the nonleptonic decays of hyperons has been performed. In comparing the product of the decay parameters, alpha(Xi)alpha(Lambda), in terms of an asymmetry parameter, A(XiLambda), between hyperons and antihyperons in the charged Xi-->Lambdapi and Lambda-->ppi decay sequence, we found no evidence of direct CP violation. The parameter A(XiLambda) was measured to be 0.

This report describes the management of three patients presenting with multiple unexplained peripheral emboli. All three patients were treated successfully with aortic thrombectomy and long-term anticoagulation.

All aspects of the cardiovascular system can be involved with clinical consequences ranging from asymptomatic abnormalities to serious life-threatening conditions. This article discusses the cardiovascular manifestations of the systemic autoimmune diseases with particular focus on clinical pathophysiology and management.

Flat-panel imagers consisting of the first large area, self-scanning, pixelated, solid-state arrays made with hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si:H) are under development by the authors for applications in diagnostic x-ray and megavoltage radiotherapy imaging. The arrays, designated by the acronym MASDA for multi-element amorphous silicon detector array, consist of a two-dimensional array of a-Si:H photodiodes and thin-film transistors and are used in conjunction with scintillating materials. Imagers utilizing MASDA arrays offer a variety of advantages over existing technologies.
