Spinning coding masks, recognized for their fast modulation rate and cost-effectiveness, are now often used in real-time single-pixel imaging (SPI). However, in the photon-counting regime, they encounter difficulties in synchronization between the coding mask patterns and the photon detector, unlike digital micromirror devices. To address this issue, we propose a scheme that assumes a constant disk rotation speed throughout each cycle and models photon detection as a non-homogeneous Poisson process (NHPP).

Acidic hydrotropes exhibit effective performance in fractionating the constituents of lignocellulosic biomass owing to their amphiphilic characteristics. However, the requirement for excessively high concentrations may lead to the condensation and aggregation of lignin. In this case, bamboo was extracted with 70 % (w/v) tetrahydrofurfuryl alcohol (THFA) aqueous solution containing 5-20 % (w/v) p-toluenesulfonic acid (pTsOH) at 90-120 °C for 1-4 h.

Interferon-inducible double-stranded RNA-dependent protein kinase (PKR) is one of the key antiviral arms in the innate immune system. The activated PKR performs its antiviral function by inhibiting protein translation and inducing apoptosis. In our previous study, we identified grass carp TARBP2 as an inhibitor of PKR activity, thereby suppressing cell apoptosis.

Based on the x-ray absorption edges of different elements, we simultaneously image and distinguish the composition of three differently shaped components of an object by using energy-resolved x-ray absorption ghost imaging (GI). The initial x-ray beam is spatially modulated by a series of Hadamard matrix masks, and the object is composed of three pieces of Mo, Ag, and Sn foil in the shape of a triangle, square, and circle, respectively. The transmitted x-ray intensity is measured by an energy-resolved single-pixel detector with a spectral resolution better than 0.

Article Synopsis
  • Arteriovenous fistulas (AVFs) are crucial for hemodialysis, but calcified arteriovenous anastomoses (AVAs) often need surgical revision, prompting a study on a new percutaneous technique for creating neo-fistulas.
  • Nine patients faced dialysis access issues due to calcified AVA stenosis, leading to a procedure where a new fistula was formed using ultrasound and fluoroscopy for guidance, achieving 100% technical success.
  • Results showed promising patency rates for the new neo-fistulas over time, with a manageable complication (pseudoaneurysm) addressed successfully, indicating that this method is both safe and effective for patients with calcified AVA.
