COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) has impacted solid organ transplantation (SOT) in many ways. Transplant centers have initiated SOT despite the COVID-19 pandemic. Although it is suggested to wait for 4 weeks after COVID-19 infection, there are no data to support or refute the timing of liver transplant after COVID-19 infection.

Effective coverage of nutrition interventions across the continuum of care in Bangladesh: insights from nationwide cross-sectional household and health facility surveys.

Introduction: Improving the impact of nutrition interventions requires adequate measurement of both reach and quality of interventions, but limited evidence exists on advancing coverage measurement. We adjusted contact-based coverage estimates, taking into consideration the inputs required to deliver quality nutrition services, to calculate input-adjusted coverage of nutrition interventions across the continuum of care from pregnancy through early childhood in Bangladesh.

Methods: We used data from the 2014 Bangladesh Demographic and Health Surveys to assess use of maternal and child health services and the 2014 Service Provision Assessment to determine facility readiness to deliver nutrition interventions.

Introduction: Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is an adult-onset, progressive and universally fatal neurodegenerative disorder. In Europe, Australia and Canada, riluzole is the only approved therapeutic agent for the treatment of ALS, while in the USA, riluzole and edaravone have been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) . Neither riluzole nor edaravone treatment has resulted in substantial disease-modifying effects.

Two-Stage Fiberoptic Intubation in an Infant With a Rare Congenital Laryngopharyngo-Cutaneous Fistula: A Case Report.

Branchial arches represent embryological precursors of the face, neck, and pharynx, and developmental abnormalities of these branchial arch derivatives can lead to airway anomalies. We report definitive repair of the fistula in an infant with a rare congenital laryngopharyngo-cutaneous fistula. This is the first report that describes a 2-stage fiberoptic intubation, a challenging technique performed for airway management of the aforementioned fistula in a patient with a difficult airway.

Clinical Presentation, Treatment, and Challenges in the Management of Child Sexual Assault at a Tertiary Care Referral Center in India.

Background: Child Sexual Assault (CSA) is not an uncommon but an under-reported crime. Along with social and psychological critical issues, there are multiple challenges faced by the surgical team for the treatment of complex perineal injuries associated with CSA. This study was conducted to find clinical presentation and management of CSA along with its problems and challenges encountered by the pediatric surgical team.

30-Day perioperative mortality following venoarterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation for postcardiotomy cardiogenic shock in patients with normal preoperative ejection fraction.

Objectives: Assessment of early outcomes in patients with normal preoperative left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) in whom venoarterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VA-ECMO) was implanted for postcardiotomy cardiogenic shock (PCCS) during the first postoperative 48 h.

Methods: Retrospective single-centre analysis in adult patients with normal LVEF, who received VA-ECMO support for PCCS from May 1998 to May 2018. The primary outcome was 30-day perioperative mortality during the index hospitalization.

Background: Studies of alcohol use among college students in India have reported a male preponderance, but a recent large study suggested that alcohol use is increasing in young females. This increase in use among the young females is of concern as they experience poorer outcomes and a higher risk for addiction. Hence, we aimed to examine the gender-specific correlates of alcohol use among college students in the district of Ernakulum, Kerala.

Aims And Objectives: We studied the short- and long-term outcomes and quality of life (QOL) in patients undergoing a two-staged modified Duhamel's procedure for Hirschsprung's disease.

Materials And Methods: Patients who had undergone this modified procedure, with initial Hartmann's procedure based on contrast enema, followed by bowel preparation and low colo-anal anastomosis below the dentate line were included. The patient who underwent this procedure over 10 years with a minimum 2-year follow-up were analysed based on an interview-based questionnaire.

Gastroduodenal artery (GDA) aneurysm is a rare cause of massive life-threatening upper gastrointestinal (UGI) bleeding in children. Prompt resuscitation with fluids, administration of large amount of blood products (massive transfusion), prompt diagnostic evaluation using computed tomography (CT) angiography or digital subtraction angiography (DSA), and therapeutic endovascular or catheter-based interventions are life-saving. In cases with failed endovascular interventions, open surgical approach to ligate aneurysm is required.

Anganwadi worker time use in Madhya Pradesh, India: a cross-sectional study.

Background: Anganwadi Workers (AWWs) are a group of 1.4 million community health workers that operate throughout rural India as a part of the Integrated Child Development Services program. AWWs are responsible for disseminating key health information regarding nutrition, family planning, and immunizations to the women and children in their catchment area, while maintaining detailed registers that track key beneficiary data, updates on health status, and supply inventory beneficiaries.

This study describes the prevalence, trends, inequalities, and drivers of EM and ECB in South Asia using eight rounds of Demographic and Health Survey data across 13 years. We report the percentage of ever-married women aged 20-24 years (n = 105,150) married before 18 years (EM) and with a live birth before 20 years (ECB).

Purpose: The aim of this study was to compare the predictability and accuracy of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) online calculator with the Haigis-L formula for intraocular lens (IOL) power calculation in post myopic laser-assisted in-situ keratomileuses (LASIK) eyes undergoing cataract surgery and also to analyze the postoperative refractive outcome among the ASCRS average, maximum and minimum values.

Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on post myopic LASIK eyes which underwent cataract surgery between June 2017 and December 2019. IOL power was calculated using both Haigis-L & ASCRS methods.
