Biomechanical characterization of abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs) has become commonplace in rupture risk assessment studies. However, its translation to the clinic has been greatly limited due to the complexity associated with its tools and their implementation. The unattainability of patient-specific tissue properties leads to the use of generalized population-averaged material models in finite element analyses, which adds a degree of uncertainty to the wall mechanics quantification.

Introduction: Improving the impact of nutrition interventions requires adequate measurement of both reach and quality of interventions, but limited evidence exists on advancing coverage measurement. We adjusted contact-based coverage estimates, taking into consideration the inputs required to deliver quality nutrition services, to calculate input-adjusted coverage of nutrition interventions across the continuum of care from pregnancy through early childhood in Bangladesh.

Methods: We used data from the 2014 Bangladesh Demographic and Health Surveys to assess use of maternal and child health services and the 2014 Service Provision Assessment to determine facility readiness to deliver nutrition interventions.

Gastroduodenal artery (GDA) aneurysm is a rare cause of massive life-threatening upper gastrointestinal (UGI) bleeding in children. Prompt resuscitation with fluids, administration of large amount of blood products (massive transfusion), prompt diagnostic evaluation using computed tomography (CT) angiography or digital subtraction angiography (DSA), and therapeutic endovascular or catheter-based interventions are life-saving. In cases with failed endovascular interventions, open surgical approach to ligate aneurysm is required.

Freezing of gait (FoG) is typically a symptom of advanced Parkinson's disease (PD) that negatively influences the quality of life and is often resistant to pharmacological interventions. Novel treatment options that make use of auditory or sensory cues might be optimized by prediction of freezing events. These predictions might help to trigger external sensory cues-shown to improve walking performance-when behavior is changed in a manner indicative of an impending freeze (i.

Inclusions of pathogenic deposits containing TAR DNA-binding protein 43 (TDP-43) are evident in the brain and spinal cord of patients that present across a spectrum of neurodegenerative diseases. For instance, the majority of patients with sporadic amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (up to 97%) and a substantial proportion of patients with frontotemporal lobar degeneration (~45%) exhibit TDP-43 positive neuronal inclusions, suggesting a role for this protein in disease pathogenesis. In addition, TDP-43 inclusions are evident in familial ALS phenotypes linked to multiple gene mutations including the TDP-43 gene coding () and unrelated genes (eg, ).
